With all of the holes that need to be filled they would be more than dumb if they take a QB at 16 unless they are just throwing in the towel for the next two years.

They just open up some pop ups which tend to be annoying but as long as we have patience and our Antimalwares do their job we can enjoy the game

What shaky intangibles? He's smart, works his ass off since before the college, knows exactly where he needs to improve, played in pretty much the same system Wentz did at NDS...
I don't see how we don't pick him if he's, by some miracle, available at 16. He's exactly the type of QB you roll the dice on and sell part of your future drafts to get him.

Why´s that? I get the first round pick is the most important one in the draft but it´s "just" one pick, it´s not like you´re automatically losing/failing all the others as well. Draft a player is like calling a play, if it works it´s the right one, if it´s wrong that singular pick is wrong.
Failing to call multiple plays and multiple picks every year is what hinder seasons.
Also, it´s not like Flacco has been playing with any poise for the last few years. If one of the top 4 QB is really falling to us and we pick him, he´ll be building confidence and fill in as the starter in 2 years, when Flacco contract is about to run out and thus when you have the leverage to eventually trade him.
Drafting a QB in our specific situation, with this crazy class, is not the end of the world.
Man, those TE are just dominating.

Flacco has been playing with poise during that Super Bowl run and in games here and there. Up until the SB, the most accurate description of him is that Joe hasn't lost games for us, which is huge if the team around him is good. Unfortunately, the team around Flacco got gradually worse after 2012. He needed to step up and carry the Ravens (according to FO expectations and the deal he got) but it turned out he isn't the QB that can do it.
Allen's better prospect than Joe was.

So many of this throws are way off the mark, worse than flacco. He plays panicked and scrambles for no reason, looks hurried and impatient.
I liked Allen a shit-ton coming into this season, but I watched 2 of his games live and a few more in film, and I soured a lot from that. I see the wentz comparison since he has a cannon and he's an athlete, but his poor completion percentage, inability to play his best vs quality competition, impatience, and tendency to throw total fucking ducks at times, remind me a scary amount of the worst of joe flacco.

Not going to go into all of the obvious reasons Flacco “hasn’t been playing with any poise for the past few seasons”(which in itself is debatable) but if the Ravens are going to compete they need playmakers that an contribute now. That type of player is much more likely to be had in the earlier rounds. Like I said, unless they are committed to a “rebuild” where winning the post season tournament isn’t the immediate goal, they won’t take a QB round one. While that scenario could be possible, I haven’t heard anything that would indicate that’s the plan.

But I wasn´t assuming that this was the organization´s plan. I was just wondering how spending a 1st mid-round pick on a falling QB of this class (the best in many years) equals to "throwing in the towel for the next two years".

Well for me, taking a QB with their first round pick rather then a WR, TE or at the least OL would be viewed as not committing all available resources to adding playmakers and improving the offense now. Not necessarily “throwing in the towel”, but definitely not a move that would support success in the near future.

Falk in the 2nd is too high in my eyes. 3rd or 4th for me. Oh and idk why you hate Allens film, i think his film this year really shows who he is as a prospect. Nothing wrong with a few bad games or plays but he overall plays well in all of them, he always flashes the traits you want to see. Even the Iowa game wasnt that bad other than the pick. Sure he panics at times and makes poor decisions but you have to look at the whole picture
falk is clearly my 5th qb on film that ive watched so far - i worry about his arm strength a little (but i do with mayfield also) but i love his poise and i like that he reads the whole field
why do you think the 2nd is too high for falk? for me he's clearly worthy of a 2nd round pick...

He just really needs time in the weight room. Hes too light for a 6'4 guy and has no mobility.
id like him to move his feet more but he's no statue in the pocket which for me would be the most egregious thing...
what i really like about falk is that he throws with anticipation and ironically i think the air raid system he was playing in was actually holding him back a little - so often the offence would be asking him to go 1 read, 2 read checkdown straight from the snap or the play would be pre-determined before the defence gave a look to read and from what ive seen of falk he seems to read the defence fairly well and put the ball in good areas
for me its arm strength that's my biggest concern with falk
he might be too light and ill admit ive never been a height-weight measurables guy (i struggle with imperial and outside of Oline ive never really known what weight as a number really indicates)
but despite his lack of weight or size or whatever he still seems to do well with defenders around him in the pocket which is promising
im actually rewatching him and am really impressed with his poise under pressure - i would prefer to see more intermediate level throws but the offence doesnt really seem to ask that of him (i personally think the intermediate level throw is the most important part of an nfl offence - a deep throw is a big play but is fairly unsustainable and short passing is a supplement to the rain game but is not sustainable as an offensive basis either)
so my biggest hesitations around falk are these:
- arm strength
- lack of intermediate throws
- lack of knowledge of how he reads a defence pre-snap (because in that system there's very little evidence of it on film)
those 3 things are why im not comfortable putting a first round grade on him but depending on where i come down on his arm strength i dont see how i could knock him down past a 2nd round grade
