Maybe not that year but I knew he had some serious potential as a head coachBefore he was hired, you actually thought he's going to be HC that year?

I think we all need to realize that If John Harbaugh would get fired today or any day just about every team that needs a head coach would be calling him and wanting him to be their head coach. I don't think interview would even be neccessary because the guy record is pretty good. I get that The Ravens missing out on the playoffs for the past 3 years is highly disappointing but if you going to fired John Harbaugh then the goal should be to find a upgrade. I'm not really seeing alot of upgrades this season and for you picking Jack Del Rio as clear upgrade doesn't make sense.
The Ravens have been quite close to making the playoffs lately. I think all they need to do is hope to get a good or better defensive coordiantor and add more playmakers to the offense.
He’d have interviews lined up with every team with an opening. The interview would be for Harbaugh sake, to make sure he got into the best position available.
Jack Del Rio is a laugh. He had a team that was a super bowl favorite that ended the season 6-10. Lol
You sound a lot like the Ravens PR machine.
Tell me, who even heard of Harbaugh when he replaced Bilick in 2007, let alone thought he'd be an upgrade? By virtue of his results, the conclusion is that he just got incredibly lucky to come into the team with 4 HoF type players, one on each level of our D and then some.
Those defenses were what made his playoff run, not Harbaugh's coaching. After it all transitioned to "his" team and his culture, we became mediocre and 2014 now really looks like a fluke (thanks to master OC).
Well, I know Weddle bailed out and got 10 yards before the snap, so I'm guessing Mosley did something similar. But is he then supposed to show a blitz and lose time and ground from a get go?
Yeah really.Lol at people who say Harbaugh was only successful because he had a good roster.
I mean really? Name one coach who won a Super Bowl without a really good team? You cant fucking win in the NFL without good players lmao
What makes a great coach is the ability to get the most out of their good players.
Harbaugh was not the team's first choice as HC. Jason Garrett came to Owings Mills and turned down the Raven organizations offer. A fact.John Harbaugh got recommended not only by Andy Reid but Bill Belichick himself. When you got coaches with their success recommending a special team/defensive back coach for the head coach job then I think anyone would be willing to listen. Who right now that is getting head coach consideration is getting that type of recommendation?. The Eagles were one of the most talented team in 2011 and 2012 which proves that talent means nothing unless good coaching is involved. So overall I think saying that John Harbaugh was lucky to come into a team with 4 HoF type players isn't really saying awhole lot. If those 4 Hof type players was really all that great and deserve all the credit than why did Brian Billick get fired in the first place?. Alot of successful head coaches were lucky to have certain players at some point on their team. I don't think there's ever been a super bowl team in the past 5 years that didn't have star players.
Yep, thank godHarbaugh was not the team's first choice as HC. Jason Garrett came to Owings Mills and turned down the Raven organizations offer. A fact.
Harbaugh is what Steve wanted, a guy that won't make waves and walks the line.Yep, thank god
Not certain all NFL "doors" would swing wide open for Harball. Not sure of that at all...but isn't broaching that topic and entering a colloquy over who might be interested in him a Red Herring? You know, irrelevant? Why would that even matter at all to the Baltimore Ravens? You afraid Cincinnati or Cleveland might get him? ...........really?.............really? That's your concern?
Cincy has been doing a pretty damn good job of kicking Harball's ass these last 5 years, in fact Cincy has been kicking Harball ass since his beginning here. Are you seriously afraid with Harball they may kick our ass even more often if he's their Head Coach?.......lol.....Because I can assure you that is something you don't have to worry about!
I think it's more likely shrewd NFL teams will look at his resume and say, "he was ok with a bunch of all pros"....but he couldn't do it on his own.
This is a case where we don't need to wait for the next great coach. We need a good coach with a fresh approach and we need a new G.M. that can pick both that coach and pick players for him to coach up. We have neither now.
Good catch with Moeller. Now that Monday has essentially come and gone without so much as a rumor that Baltimore is bringing anyone new in, I really think Harbs is going to stay the course, but that's just me.I remember there was OL coach Andy Moeller in 2013, but I don't think that was even over the godawful OL play that year because iirc he'd leaked to Mike Preston that the Cheetahs managed to read our play calls because Michael Oher and Eugene Monroe were giving them away with their pre-snap stances.
There's loyalty to your guys, and then there's Harbaugh. In a lot of ways I don't mind it, but I'd be willing to put a lot of money on Marty staying on as OC and even though I was livid about it last year I think I'm just numb to the whole thing by now. It'll be the same if we promote Martindale despite the current options for DC.
You know, I'd been sitting here thinking that Martindale would me more of the samen but you're right : things actually could be worse. I think I was actually more frustrated with Mattinson back in the day....Which will make it all the worse if we pass on all of them in favour of Martindale and he turns out to be a massive downgrade from Pees. I'd say that's worse than neglecting the WR position in the 2014 draft.
Though fwiw I remember everyone thinking we'd go with Castillo at OC ahead of the 2014 season so if we did bring someone in from outside it wouldn't be completely unpresidented.
Isn't Alex Lewis the LG? I'm not high on a guy that has thus far spent his career getting hurt, but I think the Ravens like him.The issue i have this with off season is that compared to all the other off seasons i can safely say that we've never had more holes to fill and needs. I don't see us being able to be competitive next year. We had such a soft schedule this year..next years is tough. Other teams have less needs than us. I mean the list is ridiculous
LG
RT
C ( resign jensen ?)
WR 1
WR 2
TE (playmaking)

Really? After all the 4th quarter leads this team has blown recently you were shocked?I won’t lie with it being 4th and 12 I thought the game was a wrap I was shocked absolutely shell shocked when that play happened
Brian Billick had a much shorter leash
Given as successful Pagano was here I just don't know why you wouldn't go to him if he's interested vs. going with someone unproven in the role.
But all speculation appears to be that Martindale will be the guy. Sigh.
Are you aware of the circumstances regarding Billick "losing the locker room"?billick's leash was only short because he lost the locker room but you can see it in the players that they love harbs and they play hard for him - every single year harbs gets our entire team to fully buy in no matter the circumstances or surrounding issues or record or team quality
The only real knock on Pagano that I can think of is the knowledge that it would be a short term investment. But the alternative is getting a guy who isn't good enough for other teams to poach for HC (someone like Pees for example)Given as successful Pagano was here I just don't know why you wouldn't go to him if he's interested vs. going with someone unproven in the role.

I realize you see yourself as an authority on most things.you do realise im eric decosta right?
