The Defense, the Special Teams, and the Ugly: Week 9 Edition

I’ll say it again, Perriman isn’t the problem here.

We could have drafted any of those guys, doesn’t matter when the play calling and quarterback play is this bad.

I would rephrase that to "perriman isn't the only problem..." because even if you scheme him open, he still for bricks for hands

That's true but is he just that stupid that he'll bump into him in an away game and give every opportunity to refs to throw a flag?
Eh, don’t blame him even a little bit. He pulled up and was trying to avoid him, really wasn’t any more he could do. One of a few total bullshit calls. That one cost 7.

There is no “even if”

NONE of these guys get any chance to do anything after a catch.

I’m watching the Dolphin game and Devante Parker is streaking through the middle wide open, catches the ball and gains another 12 yards.........

I'm watchin it too and to this point all I can say its a good thing we didn't have to face Cutler.

Something we are missing from this offense big time.....yac

That’s because if it isn’t a slant route, flat route, or a streak we got nothing.

Parker just ran a nice dig route and created room with nothing else but speed. Something we should be doing with fucking Perriman and Wallace

Confidence is a major issue here
I don’t think it’s a confidence issue, I think it’s a concentration, mental deficiency issue. It didn’t start in the NFL, the issue was there in college as well. I’ve wanted to believe otherwise, but it doesn’t look like it can be fixed, at least not here. They really can’t afford any further experimentation.

Since Harbaugh got here have we ever been a big yac offense? My guess would be it was at it's peak with Rice making magic happen, but for the most part you won't see that if you can't scheme guys open and your QB can't lead wrs consistently. Steve's biggest plays didn't usually come from scheme or perfect dimes, but from him making the play himself. This also comes back to, who the hell do we have on offense that defenses actually need to adjust to? If you watch our offense guys seem to be catching passes at a stand still...when they are actually caught.

There was an article in the Baltimore Sun today about Perriman’s wasted season and it appears
our coaching staff, after reading it themselves , made a point to target Perriman constantly.
it was a huge mistake and eventually he was benched and they brought in Moore.

I’m not thrilled by this method of coaching by newspaper article .
I knew the moment I saw that article earlier on in the week, we were doomed. I knew they would try to force feed him the ball and that was gonna serve as a detriment to the offense.

Our OC doesn't seem to be able to do anything but force stuff of some sort. It's pretty comical.

I'm starting to give up on Perriman but won't write him off just yet. He's in his 3rd year but 2nd playing year so I believe he still has a chance. Yes, he should of high pointed the pass but it's like we forget the pass was a little under thrown like always. Flacco has got to go. I hate how coach harb calls everybody out but Flacco. That's not a leader. All the bonehead interceptions Flacco has thrown this year but is never held accountable but he calls out perriman today.

I'd be more empathetic to the narrative if we weren't seeing so many points off of turnovers or short field position (the Koch shank), or if the offense did something at all for the first 55 minutes of the game.
Oh I'm not putting this on the defense, they're far to blame here. I just personally think the 4th QTR collapses are a problem and Pees is liable to that. The offense did no favors, they only scored the first time around off the Weddle INT, but lets not forget they blew a scoring opportunity that started in their own 40. This offense only manage to score in favorable field position and even in situations where it is favorable, you just don't know if they are going to cash in.

Ball hit him in the hand for a split second and I'm not sure we can get mad at him for "allowing" Ryan to make a play on the ball. Perriman is tracking the high arcing ball and Ryan peels off his man and just spear heads the ball into the air.

Amazing throw from Flacco, but really unlucky bounce.
I think Ryan made a great play but I just wish sometimes Perriman could make a better play on the ball. My reaction to the play was after my first watch so I probably mis-judged it. I do think that Ryan made a great play but it seems like we just seem to throw a majority of these INTs in Perriman's direction, I could be wrong but his lack of aggressiveness when the ball is in the air is very legit criticism and something that could be recited in his college days whether it was him mis-timing his jump or not having good ball awareness.

Titans had plenty of time to prepare. They started out very well but after we made our adjustments their offense didn't do much. I think that bye helped them plenty, I understand the no-excuses approach but they definitely had an advantage in that sense.

Short of a bye week, we couldn't have been in a better situation, coming of a dominant win, too.
