The Good, the Bad, and the Dolphins: Week 8 Edition

Also, see what happens when you feed your hot hand? Alex Collins has been by far our best offensive player. We feed him and he crushes a top 5 defense, multiple big runs created out of his effort and talent, nearly every run gained positive yardage and many for chunks of 4-5. And changing it up and scrapping he Alex Collins playbook in favor of more flats passes and buck Allen is a big mistake and needs to stop, Allen ran alright but not close to what Collins did, and the bullshit martyball will kill every drive we have. Stick with the hot hand, feed the beast, and when you do pass it make it a fucking play action and don't wait for 3rd and 9 to do it.
The only game he has looked bad thus far was the Vikings game where it seemed his burst disappeared for a week. This kid is a monster and has explosion we have not seen from a running back in a long time. I honestly think the team should've given him 25 carries a game the past 4 weeks. This kid is special. Buck has played solid as well which has surprised me but he doesn't have that same burst and looks meh when he carries it. Definitely a solid back up and change of pace. Think of this team when Woodhead and West come back and having that Collins-Woodhead combo.

I hate this team for dropping a 40burger and getting our hopes up again lol

The great: Ryan fucking Jensen! Dammit I love having this guy on our team! Sadly he's making a hell of a name for himself around the league, it's gonna be a bidding war to keep him signed
Yeah that's the beauty of being a Ravens fan. Getting blown out one week against a shitty team then stomping a really good team the next. I swear that whenever the team plays terribly the next week they follow it up with a great performance and then if they have a really good performance they follow it up with a shitty one. So who else is afraid of the Titans game next week? I sure as hell am. If they win that game, I will have a glimmer of hope again for this team and that is a bad thing for when they disappoint again.

Will be interesting seeing the boards going back current football. After that loss to the Vikings everybody thought the Ravens would be a top 10 draft pick and were only talking draft talk. I wonder how much that changes now.

that's the beauty of talent evaluation you can be so horribly wrong and I so accurately right and yet only time will crown the premier evaluator. now, that's a problem we have also, because a premier evaluator needs to know before the bell tolls. like the time for the work bell.

Jimmy smith was way wayy grabbier in his rookie year. All the top corners grab ( including lattimore) it's about how well you use it. I remember brandon carr as a rookie at KC and he was a master at it and dominated in his first few years.

Well the Vikings defense is one of the best in the league, their LB corps is elite, they have great edge players, good interior line, they're just not an easy team to move the ball against, Collins was swarmed everytime he got the ball last week.

Yeah you can tell he was waiting for holes to open up but our o-line did not match up well with their linebackers and d-linemen well. But he seriously has looked easily like a top-10 running back when he has the ball if not better this season. I just wish he got more touches sooner. I hope he continues to get touches. I know this team loves Buck but he has not shown me or anyone for that matter he can be a workhorse. He can put up decent numbers and get about 4 YPC but when Collins gets the ball man sparks jump off the screen. So many plays should've been losses that he ended up getting 4-5 yards and the carries he got that he wasn't getting swarmed early a lot he took 10-15 yards. I know he doesn't have a touchdown yet because for some reason this team stops giving him the ball within the opponent's 20, but I know those touchdowns will start to come.

Treat Collins like Audrey 2 and just keep feeding him.

they're defence is kind of what i thought the texans defence would be at the beginning of the year

Good Lord this team is crazy. Many teams in the league are up and down, but we are just crazy wild with our performance swings.

I have faith in them, they let me down. I bash them and then they show me what they are capable of.

The Good: What can you say about the D last night. The shutdown of the run was refreshing. So many outstanding performances, but the one player I want to bring out is Humphrey. He's just getting started and he could really project into being a star.

But as good as the D was, then can only excel when the offense functions. Given who we faced - the offense may deserve more credit than the D, despite a shut out and 2 TDs scored. It all starts up front. Skura must be some kind of difference maker, because we've looked different in the games he's been in. How badly did we need Maclin to come back? And the brightest is Collins ... he is so clearly our most explosive back - he's a keeper

The Bad: Joe, obviously. I just hope he doesn't have lingering issues with that hit. Moral of the story - yes we can be mad at Alonzo, but Joe - don't do that ever again ... the 1st down isn't worth it. Get down earlier.

The Dolphins: Boy, I thought we were getting a bad hand NOT having Cutler and getting Moore. Well, that was incorrect. Moore was rattled from the get-go. Once we got a lead and put the game on him to win in the pass game, this thing was OVER.

Ryan Jensen deserves the game ball. Without hesitation he takes up for a teammate and sticks Alonsos head in the ground.

I notice however that not one Raven stuck up for him as two dolphins are on top of him and a third was waiting for his chance to get some. This is embarrassing.

Three dolphins willing to fight and defend Alonso while none save Jensen stuck up for Flacco. And when he did, he was left to be wailed on and fend for himself. No one even pulled them off of him.

I was impressed that so many fans came out for a preseason game.
Really an awful product on the field. Dolphins were unwatchable. Pummeled by another team a far cry from being considered even mediocre.

Commentators joking about chain movers, falling asleep from boredom, "who could blame them?...."(for falling asleep) joked one commentator.
Another bemoaned a particularly drawn out stretch between snaps by stating over the air that, "he wants to go home".

This may as well have been a preseason game. Dolphins were certainly in mode.

Harbaugh celebrating with Marty as if we'd beaten the Patriots and were moving on the super bowl.

Sorry. Pretty uninspiring to me. And seeing Flacco essentially without his whereabouts really puts a damper on it.

Maybe the concussion will start making joe play like Arod
I'm afraid of him being too afraid to scramble out of the pocket after the hit.... He used to get first downs regularly running out of the pocket especially when Kubiak was here. That was the first I feel like I have seen in awhile and it resulted in a huge blow.

I wonder if Suh will get a fine/suspension as well for his late penalty. Dolphins were frustrated and not well coached near the end. Choking people and poking eyes out is really up his alley.

- Alex Collins is the real deal and fun to watch. He's definitely given some life to the offense and hopefully he can keep getting more carries. It's definitely gonna be interesting to see what happens when both Dixon and Woodhead come back. I would be in favor of having Collins and Dixon split the majority of carries and sprinkle Woodhead in there on passing downs. Of course, Buck Allen has also played fairly well too...

- Fuck Kiko Alonso. Flacco was on his way to maybe his best game of the season, if the dime pass to Maclin was any indication, and then this asshole knocks him out of the game. Hopefully, Flacco can recover in time for the Titans game because I'm sure they'll put up more of a fight than the Dolphins.

- Our run D is back! Or at least it was fixed for one game. I got a bit worried after Ajayi ripped off a decent chunk on his first carry, but they stuffed him for the rest of the game. This is the key to our defense; if we can stop the run and force teams to pass then teams are going to have an awful time with our improved secondary. I know we were facing the 'Fins with Matt Moore, but our corners are playing great right now.

- Tony Romo is an awesome commentator. He had me dying with some of the stuff him and Nantz were saying while also providing some great analysis. It made the game watchable even when the game itself was ugly for the most part.

sorry but you are wrong. was stunned the flags didn't fly on he coverages but those refs let it go even with as chippy as that game was. there were only 40 yards penalties per team.

predicted this win and the win over the raiders. but that guy is gonna hurt us when the refs disallow his grabbing. what a low caliber first rounder.

Brandon browner is the guy, thank you. He's not as good as browner but twice as grabby.
Humphrey is savvy with contact, he gets handsy but he's never blatant with it, he makes guys uncomfortable. Browner tried to sodomize guys up and down the field.

Can we talk about how romo is the GOAT commentator? He is the shit, his excitement is seriously refreshing, and he predicts plays like it's nothing. Dude was born for this shit lol.

Also, did anyone realize jimmy was THAT fast? That was Kenny stills and he was off to the races and even had time to showboat. Dude shows time and time again that when he's healthy he's about as good as it gets, healthy jimmy is elite and it's not a question, qbs don't even fucking think about targeting him, and when they do he makes them pay. I would love to see what he would've been had he never had an injury bug, he'd be hailed as the best cb in the league

Isn't he the one that said something about a velociraptor??? He KILLED me. Romo is seriously the greatest commentator ever.

Jimmy is a stud no doubt. Looked like he was running awkwardly still so I feel like that achilles is still somewhat bothering him. I still think he is a top 5 corner in this league just because of how this team looks when he isn't there because of injury. I think Humphrey is the second coming of Smith as well. Dominant corners for years to come.

This is the first game I've caught with Romo commentating and I was seriously impressed. Great analysis and the dude is hilarious. He also has great chemistry with Nantz who is probably ecstatic to be rid of Simms finally.

I think my favorite thing that Romo said was when he was trying to calculate Collins' YPC and said something like, "I'm no expert at math, but that should be about a 6 yard average.......Actually, I'm an expert at math, but I was trying to make it sound good...." lol

I think Jimmy was showboating with the swerving.
