It makes a lot of sense. Queen definitely is best when he doesn't think too much, and Harrison isn't too dissimilar in that way. If Ryan can come in and do what he's done throughout his career, it could be a blessing for a couple of young guys with tons of potential.
EDC said in his presser the ravens are expecting to have 15-20m to work with which would make sense if the cap was 185m - would put us at around 18m (after RFA tenders etc.) - would give us more to work with but would also make the lives of many of those teams over the cap a lot easier and plausibly create fewer cap casualties

Was he expecting us to fire Wink then? Maybe it was just a "hey, do you think I could be a good coach" kinda talk?

I'm not even surprised. A guy like Ed thinks, albeit naively, that he's good enough to be an NFL DC because he was a great player.
my guess is Harbs would be ecstatic to have him join the staff but it would have to have been through the same pathway that everyone progresses - maybe he moves up quicker than others would but it just seems bizarre to expect to walk into an NFL coordinator role with no experience in that role and no recent experience even as a positional coach at any level since 2016

I’ll be honest, I’d love to see Ed reed thrown into the fire as a dc, even if it’s at the U or something, he’s a brilliant football mind, Peyton Manning, bill belichick, Andy Reid type.
now that doesn’t mean he can just direct his players to do the same things he could do, but I’d be willing to bet the mans got ideas

He needs to (and probably will) start smaller. Start with a D3 school or a small D1 school and prove your worth. The U, a National program, isn't exactly the kind of place you throw somebody into the fire to learn how to coach.

Before everyone freaks out im not even considering money or likeliness. I am just interested in thinking about what kind of receiver would be best for Lamar.
Allen Robinson is pretty interesting to me because he's not small, but he's not big. He's not super fast, he doesn't have great YAC potential, but the guy is super savvy, and doesn't drop the ball. I watched a lot of him recently and he just straight up wins in man coverage and finds the soft spots in zone. He was open a ton this year but he was also blanketed a good bit as well. Thing is, even when he was covered he routinely made contested catches.
The Ravens have Hollywood and Duvernay. They need a big bodied guy and they need a mr reliable. I really feel like Robinson could fit that Mr reliable type. I'm hoping one way or another Lamar can get a guy who just gets it done to help him out.

he should do what deion's doing at jackson state - find some success as a HC somewhere like that and progress from there
honestly with the way lamar's been hesitant to throw contested balls i think we just have to find a guy who separates
not much good having someone who wins in contested situations if lamar's never gonna but the ball in that spot to contest
i dont really care how they separate but i want someone who's great in the route more than i want someone who's great at the catch-point
partly i suppose it could be about trust and maybe if we had someone who was a baller at the catch-point lamar might be less hesitant to throw but idk
allen robinson is clearly both of those things which is why it's rare someone like him hits the market (maybe a top 5-10 route-runner in the league right now and also great at the catch-point)
but if i had to pick one of those traits i want the separation
allen robinson would be amazing for Lamar but i think it's more about the intermediate route-running and separation than it is about the "big-body"

you’re overthinking it. We have a guy who can separate and a guy who can catch contested balls, and he throws it to both of them frequently. What we don’t have is a guy who can play big on the boundary and can leverage himself properly for a catch in coverage and that’s something we haven’t seen in this offense and it’s something we’ve wanted desperately to see but Boykin isn’t up to the task and Roman doesn’t wanna dial up plays to dez.

1. I'm not really sure that's like a super special pass rush group. I mean Judon isn't like a double digit sack guy, Bowser is a rotational player, and Wolfe and Campbell really aren't premier pass rushers anymore (Wolfe specifically). Like I think that group is much better in run defense than in pass defense, and it showed.
2. There is a general thought process, which Eric alluded to this offseason, that pass rush is becoming, to a certain extent, less relevant. Offenses are getting the ball out quicker.
Lamar Jackson is one of the "slowest" in the league in terms of average delivery time, and that's right around 3 seconds. 3 seconds from snap to delivery. Not exactly a lot of time for pass rush.
Also, we played a decent number of games against the quickest to release passers in the league. People figured out by mid-season that there was no point in pressuring more than 4 against Pittsburgh. Ben had an average 2.3 seconds per release. You can assemble an All-Star cast of rushers, and they'll get limited pressure on a guy who pretty consistently gets rid of the ball in under 2.5 seconds.
Andy Dalton, Brandon Allen, Philip Rivers, Dwayne Haskins all at 2.55 seconds or less per release. That's 6 games right there against guys who don't get sacked a lot because they deliver the ball so quickly.

I think this makes a lot of sense, but the one part I kind of disagree with is Lamar doesn't throw into contested window. I feel like he throws extremely tight window balls to Andrews literally all the time. I think it's just he doesn't have any faith in any of the receivers being able to male those plays and that's why he doesn't. If true, an Allen Robinson type could be big for the passing game
