The 2021 Offseason Thread

Man I hope Bateman doesn’t go the way of Perriman .

i mean perriman couldnt run a route or catch... bateman's already better than perriman

also worth noting that perriman went down on day 1 of his 1st training camp never to return, bateman's been in camp and has occasionally gotten the better of all-pro corners...

massive difference

It won’t be a big difference if he’s injured all the time

For people thinking Villanueva was going to be some upgrade, the entire OL was supposed to be what eased you. There was always the possibility of a "slow" start, but if they are healthy by midseason the team should be fine. Remember the starting line still hasn't played together yet. Aw shit...

This is what’s been keeping me from freaking out about the OL, if 4/5 are playing in the playoffs and have gelled, the unit should be fine, as long as Stanley is in and healthy

I feel like our line is going to get completely blown through consistently. it sounds like Al sucks. can we beg rick Wagner to come back? idfk
Honestly I’m not surprised, I figured he’s an upgrade over fluker, which he probably is, but I expected him to be pretty bad still, and every bit of film I’ve watched on him has reinforced that feeling, what I’m hearing out of camp though it sounds like he’s been way worse than I feared, he’s always being singled out for getting smoked in practice.

I would not be shocked at all if phillips ends up our starting RT, unless of course he’s called elsewhere to fill in.

Zrebiec released an article last week indicated that he started rough, but ended the week on a high note and held up well against all the pass rushers on Friday. I'm not surprised he's had some early struggles. Dude was pretty much a pure product of Munchak designing him to be a left tackle in Pittsburgh's system. His struggles in Pittsburgh began when Munchak left. Now he's playing a different position in a completely different system. In some ways he's like a 32 year old rookie.

I mean partially, yes. His struggles also began when Pittsburgh stopped even attempting to run the ball. Villanueva isn't the Tackle you want if you're planning to throw it 45-50 times a day and you're playing in front of an immobile QB.

Is Philips suppose to be a lot better this season / did he drastically improve down the stretch last year? All I can recall of him is trying to check who fucked up - he or fluker- whenever you saw Lamar getting sacked

Our line could be absurdly good or the worst in the league the first two weeks of the season. I hate the league giving us kc in September 3 years straight. I feel it's just a setup to lose again.

Camp tweets, Spencers daily YouTube reports, 105.7, it’s not like him being called by name as being trash, but you have heard many many times where “(defender) beat Villanueva for ______” or in a 1v1. It’s been a bit of a trend

How I feel about my #SIIE towards Bateman (and even Yannick to an extent)....

Pretty sure I haven't seen Jaylon's name called...

if that makes you feel any better

Maybe he’s just trying to give a confidence boost to the young pass rushers? :D:D
