2018 Free Agency

Report: Ravens 'remain focused on' Moncrief
9427.jpg

According to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Ravens "remain focused on" free agent Donte Moncrief.

La Canfora mentioned in the same report that Baltimore is in the mix for fellow free agent Allen Robinson, but the Ravens may not have the cap space to get it done. GM Ozzie Newsome may have to dip into the second and third tiers of the free-agent receiver market in his effort to overhaul Joe Flacco's receiving corps. Monciref may be best served to take a one-year, prove-it deal.

Report: 49ers, Bears, Browns 'hot' for A-Rob

According to CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora, the 49ers, Bears, and Browns are among the teams "hot after" free agent Allen Robinson.

La Canfora adds the Panthers and Ravens also have interest in Robinson, but the salary cap could pose a problem for those clubs. Additionally, the Jaguars haven't closed the door on a return. Robinson is coming off a torn ACL last year but is medically fine and should have no problem landing top dollar. The 49ers and Bears, specifically, could really use Robinson out wide. Both teams have young quarterbacks and imaginative, offensive-minded head coaches.

Why are we "settling" on Moncrief? With the expected releases of the players we basically know are gone because of their cap hit, I don't see how we can't be a player for Watkins or Robinson. I'm cool with bringing Moncrief in WITH a Robinson or Watkins but to ignore both and go straight for Moncrief is non sense.

Moncrief is still a good player and has dealt with some QB issues over the last couple of years and missed 4 games last year on top of 7 games the season before. I wouldn't mind signing Moncrief on a short reasonable contract or one yr prove it deal. However, Robinson would be my top choice.

Moncreif is probably the most likely FA to become a Raven. If he can stay healthy he could be one of the TD machines we need.

Moncreif is a good add. With how dysfunctional Indy has been...

He won't solve our problem but that's a step in the right direction. He's nothing special.... But he's a solid get for this offense.

We need more than one guy at more than one position and there may not be enough there to get a Robinson or Watkins.

it’s going to take multiple guys to “solve the problem”. I’d much rather have 3 B receivers than 1 A and 2 Cs.

We could want Allen Robinson a ton, but put yourself in his shoes. He sees 49ers on the rise on one hand. And the other hand, he sees flacco, with hot seat harbs and Marty M as OC. Which team would you choose? Sad to say, we’re not a hot destination for young offensive players

This kind of the sticking point that sucks this offseason. Why exactly would players want to come here? At this point in time, the only thing that really stands out is the freedom we typically allow players to be themselves. But from a football standpoint? We're about an average team with a struggling QB and an offensive coordinator with lots of question marks. If another losing season comes, you could see a big shakeup coaching wise and that has to factor as well. As a fan I want to think that everybody wants to be here, but looking at it objectively, there are a lot of really good situations out there and I wouldn't put Baltimore in that realm as we currently stand.
