2018 Free Agency

And? I’m a hypocrite. I’ll admit it.
I never once claimed that we’re fucked.
This is one move before the free agency period has officially begun. Sit it out. Let’s see what happens
It isn't just that the we didn't get Landry. Or even that the Browns did. It's more a matter of confronting a stark reality that in order to clear cap space, we are considering a redoing of a one year old deal made with a run stuffing nose tackle.

Not exactly thrilled we missed out, but truthfully I think it's for the best. I would've liked to see him here but we were already robbed of a 3rd round comp pick in a midloaded draft with a shitton of offensive talent, and we're already up against the cap pretty tight, and likely facing a rebuild mode within 2 years. Landry would've been a great addition but he would've robbed us of valuable picks and an absolute fuckton of cap space, he probably would've hit 20m cap space at some point because of how much we would've had to backload it.

I would've loved to see him here but the figures didn't work out and we should've never gotten our hopes up

In all honesty I'm not even mad we missed out, unless the trade compensation and maybe long-term deal come in at reasonable amounts.

What I mean is that just because some of us are upset doesn’t mean we are overreacting. Some of us just liked the thought of Landry on our team. It depends on what the Browns are gonna pay him and what they gave the Phins. If it’s pretty reasonable than I’m gonna be pretty upset. If not, oh well. But I really liked the idea of Landry on our team. It’s been too long since we’ve had a guy whos very reliable and has great hands. No it’s not the end of the world because free agency hasn’t started, but we aren’t gonna sign Robinson and I don’t want Watkins. Landry was the next best thing and it sucks we couldn’t get him.

1. It was an extremely doubtful scenario where Landry would become a Raven. Just a simple fact. A team like the Browns has a big huge chest of draft picks and $ to overpay. That’s generally where this type of FA ends up.

2. There are plenty of other avenues to get receivers that actually make sense.

3. Maclin will not be a Raven in 2018.

front office has fucked our cap situation with too many restructures of veteran players over the years. they should just let these veterans contracts finish out instead of continuing to restructure them and putting us in a bigger whole. decostas mindset should be to build this team for our next qb in a few years. build the o-line and have the weapons in place. 2-3 year plan

The goal should always be to build the best team. Agee with what you're saying. We need to stop with the damn restructures. We're finally out of the dead money hole and basically just stuck with bad deals at this time. Let them flame out then have the cap purge next year or the year after.

Since the SB, we seem to be on a perpetual 2-3 years plan. It's just the start of that plan that moves to next year. Every time.

i am glad we didnt overpay for landry. we should target paul richardson, bring wallace back and even take a look at eric decker and donte moncrief on 1 year deals. the key is to finally hit on a receiver or 2 in the draft plus add a solid te

I really have no problem not getting Landry for 2 picks - I’m way more pissed about not getting that 3rd round comp

Maybe the Browns will trade Higgins to get back a draft pick. He looked really good when their qb actually got him the ball. He showed separation, ball skills and elusiveness after the catch.

I really think Higgins could be as good as Landry. I like receivers that run 4.55-4.60 40s that play fast. Higgins has a complete game and the Browns didn’t have the QB to notice. Not saying he plays as fast as Chad Johnson. But he ran a 4.58 yet was one of the fastest route runners ever. Higgins plays at his top speed, is fluid and athletic. He doesn’t gear down ever. Many really good scouts thought he was a borderline round1 player.

we will grab a wr either in offseason or draft thats for sure.. id love for us to grab robinson

Front office needs to cut every older and no producing player that aren’t in the 2019 and beyond plans. Begin making cap space for building block signings. And begin by using that cap space signing a young 24 yr old legit No.1 Wide Receiver to build the offense around. If it takes 5-6 yrs $70million then so be it. He will be in his prime at least next 5 years to help Joe Flacco and build the offense around. And be a No.1 WR for the QB that replaces Joe Flacco.
