2018 Free Agency

We need big plays and Landry isn't going to provide a whole lot of that. He's never proven to be that type of player.

I badly want Allen Robinson here. He's everything we need and while yes, he's not going to completely solve our problems, he is a problem solver and would be a game changer. He's everything we need in a WR.
As far as that news goes that the Jaguars are tagging Robinson, I'm calling bogus since it was a prediction from a beat writer rather then an official report. So no one knows if there's a tag. If he does hit the FA market then I would go all in for him even at the cost of Jensen. We couldn't have tried to trade for Landry without knowing well that we're going to have to pay him top dollar, so if we were to pay anyone I'd rather have it be Robinson. He's easily my #1.

If that doesn't work it, and good chance it doesn't then I'd rather search team-to-team and see who's willing to give up a receiver in that nature. I would even take Dez and DeMaryius over him.
You can't have Robinson, JAX are going to tag him.

It was a prediction by a beat writer, not a rumor or an actual transaction. They very well could tag him, I'm not ignoring that but they'll pay up 16.2M with 1M left in cap. Also considering that it's in a year where Bortles is entering his 5th year option, then it's as simple as many people think. As long as he's not tagged he's my #1 guy because I believe it's more of a toss of then people think.

wouldnt marquise lee hit the market in stead though...
I don't want him lol but I'd imagine he would hit the market
ill take lee over landry all day. lee might drop a few here and there but hes much more of a playmaker, and way more in the mold of a #1, he runs elite routes, solid attacker, solid YAC guy, and game breaking speed. Landry is just a sure handed guy who can drag tacklers for another 2-3 yards.

Lol.....so you want an oft-injured guy who drops balls while Landry is the complete opposite, all because of Lee’s “potential”. Ozzie? That you?

Lol. You and I don't see eye-to-eye on receivers, that's for sure.

I want Landry over anybody else in this FA but I just have no idea how can we do that.

that was very funny, but ozze hasn't spent some for a free agent WR since Boldin and he hated the spending so much he refused to pay his contract!!!

What's Wallace making?.....too much whatever it is.

I dont want us to break the bank and pay #1 money for a #2 who needs manufactured production when our OC has made it clear that he's not a fan of manufacturing production for anyone but the TE.

How? By paying him top dollar, which he isn't worth. It's not that I like lee more as a player, it's that I like the value far more. He won't be bank breaking and he should impact just as much as Landry.

But if we're going by their history at least a little bit, Lee can never contribute as much as Landry. I don't see value in player who isn't always available.

Now if we sign Landry to something respectable and then fuck around and land Ridley in the draft, then I'm all for it, but I don't see Landry as a guy who changes your offense, rather than a complementary guy.

Other guys I would be in favor of if we got Landry: cedrick Wilson, st brown, and obviously ant Miller. But rather than breaking the bank for Landry I prefer the idea of a guy like Auden Tate or DJ Moore if we can make a move to secure one maybe with a trade up from our third. Moore is strikingly similar to Landry, so is Kirk, but Kirk is going in the first probably. Tate isn't similar BUT he can fill that big bodied possession role

I get that argument, 100%. And I bite my tongue a little when I say I'd take lee over Landry for that exact reason, BUT we are historically bad at screens and timing patterns which is what Landry needs to get himself going. Landrys film just makes me pause because there's so much manufactured play and quick strikes and I don't believe in flacco and Marty to make that happen

Landry would definitely change our offense - it's been a long, long time since we had receiver with hands dependable as Landry's. I'd rather go into the season with Landry and Washington than one of the rookies you mentioned and Lee.

I agree on Flacco and Marty but they are a different subject. I hope they're gone after the next season and this year we're starting to build the post-Flacco offense.

He changes our offense in the sense that he's an upgrade, sure, but for the money he's gonna get you would definitely want a guy who completely takes over, I don't mean boldin caliber which is essentially what Landry would be(and at way more money), I would want goddamn Steve smith pre-injury 2015 caliber where he was franchise record-shattering pace.

Landry is gonna get a ricockulous deal, and he won't live up to it unless he plays for NE or NO or some other place who can manufacture the hell outta some touches

Shame it had to come to it, but yeah, Joe has to take his game elsewhere. We provided almost nothing to buttress his game and he needed the complete team, but its time for him to ply his trade somewhere else. We are not configured for him and he is not the guy we need at this juncture. Its also a shame our Front Office didn't realize this awhile back and make the moves to deal Joe while helping to build our team.

I like Landry and think he could help, but we have a tough Cap situation and we can't stimulate Joe with a single WR. Too much time involved.

Weird, but I guess we somehow don't have this yet.
I'd like to see a breakdown of projected $ and who we can sign / resign
I could be wrong on this, but I do believe we are expected to have way more than usual this year. And with Jensen being the only free agent I want to stay, could we go after a big player? Resign some more guys? Jarvis Landry and Sammy Watkins are both set to be free agents... man they would look nice in purple.
Landry is good, but I don't think the Mgmt would acquire both Watkins and Landry due to financial restriction. I don't know if Watson is a free agent but I think he is consistent, even though he is an older player. Perhaps he will play for a modest contract due to his age factor. He did make it through the season whereas Max was on the IR most of his career. You have to ask whether Gilmore and Williams are worth keeping from their performance or lack of touches this year.

Lee will be a great sign for any team if he manages to stay healthy. I just don't want him since I can't trust his health issues.

I look at our weaknesses and I don't see Landry doing much. We need those downfield plays, we need to move the chains and we need a red-zone threat. I don't see Landry doing much of that here and as you said, we don't manufacture plays for guys like Landry.

It would not surprise me if he lands on one of the teams in LA.
