They are totally undervaluing Landry’s talent. However he’s not worth 14m per yrAs a counterpoint I don’t think they saw the ravens offence for most of the first half of the year - we legit couldn’t find anyone to do that

This is a cool link. Unless I'm misreading (quite possible), we would, after cutting McLellan, Webb, Howard, Maclin and Levine, find ourselves with more than 22 million in cap space...do you read the same? This is the spotrac page I’ve been referring to showing the adjusted salary cap with rollover cap. Total cap available with top 51 is around 13m.

Why extend Jimmy Smith? Seems sure to be a mistake as he can't seem be counted on. I would not push spending down the road for him even if he does carry a large hit this year. I'd sooner trade for the right offer and two plus million.that's before extending CJ and Jimmy which would add more cap space too

Are cap ramifications the same under trade scenario?all you have to do is level out his cap hit - doesnt mean he stays for the whole contract - but his cap hit the next 2 years is astronomical and prohibitive... jimmy smith currently has the highest 2 year cap hit in the league for the next 2 years... if we extend him and lower his average then we give ourselves so much more cap to work with

I agree, he’s not worth that much money, but it’s not easy to replace his talent level either. The fins will most likely have a drop off.@RavensMania No one is undervaluing Jarvis Landry’s talent. That’s basically the majority of what Landry was used for and thus that’s why he’s not impossible to replace. He’s a very good slot receiver. But not a 14 million dollar WR. @ me next time
Yeah it’s definitely time for Parker to step up in a big wayI agree, he’s not worth that much money, but it’s not easy to replace his talent level either. The fins will most likely have a drop off.
They will need to get very creative with this one to ensure we don’t take it where the sun don’t shine. Have you not seen how dependent the defense has been on Jimmy over the past few seasons. Sure, Tavon coming back helps and we have a new coordinator, but we are going to need another quality body for when Jimmy inevitably goes down. Why need CB even if we part with Carr? It's not just Jimmy coming back, it's also Tavon coming back and along with Humphrey and Canady getting another year under the belt. Honestly the CB isn't just fine we might have too many talented bodies to get them all the playing time they deserve WITHOUT signing someone.

A team might overpay since he can be let go and I think he leaves. Miami is in such an awful cap situation right now so their chances of keeping Landry right now are not in their favor. Even if they backload his deal massively it's still going to be very tough. As a top slot receiver, he's definitely worth 12. I doubt he gets more but who knows, desperate team might overpay.
