Yeah but I just know he’s gonna get hurt and be rendered ineffective for at least half the season or something and I think we’d be better off already having a replacement for his role in place. If he stays healthy I’ll be good with keeping him though. Just a roll of the dice i guess

We absolutely should keep him. People obviously weren’t paying attention to the offense once he was used in the game plan the 2nd half of the season.
 
it seems like we are really fucked cap wise. Just from what I have been reading, after most adjustments, we will have around 10 million. Throw away 7 million for our draft picks.

I expect us to cut Maclin and Carr, and maybe Howard. I honestly kind of want to keep Howard. I know he wasn't that good, but we would only save 3 million by getting rid of him. I know we could use that money, but an average tackle would cost way more. I don't see a current roster replacement for him. Maybe Alex Lewis, but the guy has a clear injury problem and considering he has fucked up both his back and shoulder, I can't count on him. Those are injuries that don't go away. Our line allowed only 8 sacks in the last 7 games. That is the only reason we had a chance at anything. This includes playing the Steelers who finished with the most sacks, and the Bengals who's line always fucks Joe. Against the Steelers, Joe was sacked once on 35 dropbacks, and it was on the last play where Joe held the ball for 10 seconds for a hail marry. This offensive line played incredibly the second half of the season, and if Joe had some real weapons we would have lit everyone up. The key to the line being amazing was consistency. Let these guys glue together as much as you can. And we get Yanda back.

Anyway, with cutting Maclin and Carr we save 9 million. Account for draft picks and we have 12 million total. I think we really need to resign Jensen no matter the cost. He is the spirit and toughness of our line, and I think he is a franchise player. It's damn hard to find a good center. The highest I go for him is 8 mil a year. Best case, we have 4 million left. We have no receivers. Legit Chris Moore is all we have (Fuck you perriman you don't count) I know we have the draft, but it just seems like we have no flexibility at all to do anything.

I know everyone seems to think the cap situation is improving because the max cap is expanding, but it is really just inflation. 8 Mil a year seems crazy for a center, but it is pretty damn standard. (kinda like Joe's contract) How the fuck do we have such an underachieving team and so little cap christ.

Our cap space is so low because the FO has lost it's way and keeps giving out dodgy contracts. The fact that we're always so tight against the cap but continuously miss out on the playoffs should result in action from Bisciotti but apparently this is how thinks should be done in his eyes.

We will only use 3.5 million for our draft picks based on where we are picking and we currently have 11m and can make an additional 11m, which is more than recent years.

Not to mention, people tend to think about the average cost over the span of the contract when thinking what we can fit, but typically when we sign a guy for around $8m average that 1st year cap hit is going to fall somewhere between $3.5-5m.

Meaning we'll be able to afford 2 higher end FA's if we choose to do that and another 2-3 mid tier guys. We'll be able to make some moves if we want to.

The Miami Herald's Barry Jackson reports impending free agent Jarvis Landry is seeking a "contract in the range" of the one Davante Adams signed with the Packers at the end of the season.

Adams signed a four-year, $58 million pact with $18 million guaranteed, and his $14.5 million annual average made Adams the league's fourth-highest-paid wideout. Adams is a prolific touchdown scorer, whereas Landry is coming off a career-best nine scores this past season. He has 22 touchdowns in four seasons and plays strictly out of the slot. Doug Baldwin and Keenan Allen are making just north of $11 million per year as the highest-paid slot receivers. To this point, Landry has said he's felt a bit "disrespected" by Miami's handling of negotiations.

Worth it. I don't care what anyone says. He's an elite WR with sure hands and is a reception machine. Never missed a game his entire career (though that can change when he puts on a Ravens jersey). He's just a very safe signing. Pair him with Calvin Ridley and our WR group looks promising.

He's going to disappoint someone with that deal. Can you run an offense with Jarvis as your #1? Sure you can but his production won't match what he'll get from some team out there. I really would rather go after Allen Robinson.

I really do not think he's elite either.

I really don't think Jensen is going to break the bank in the manner that anyone thinks. He's definitely going to get paid but if you're a team out there in need of a Center are you going to break open your briefcase on someone who has just started as a full time C this year? There's been no word of Jensen resetting the market and it completely differentiates from Wagner's situation who had been a stable on the Ravens right side with two good years.

I can't get with cutting Carr since Jimmy might not even start the year. You're walking into a situation where you're starting CBs is Marlon and Canady; just too much risk there.

Like the others have said, I think with the NFL cap increase(11M I believe), some cuts and backloaded deals that we will have enough room for two quality FA additions or 1 big FA addition.

He won't get that deal. It'll be around $12-13mil average a year and he's worth every penny
 
You know, with potentially backloading some deals, (EXP: Jensen, Mosley), cuts(Maclin, Webb), and the cap increase then I certainly believe we'll have some money to play with. I think Allen Robinson becomes a good target for a 1YR deal.

That's a pipe dream. He'll get long term contract easily.

Just because he might get that deal does not mean he's worth it. His play is not going to match what he's going to get paid. I think he's going to make upwards of 14-15M a year potentially. You always anticipate a guy like him to make more then what the rumors believe.

I mean, how different is his situation from Alshon Jeffery? He was a player in a poor situation, who had multiple years as a proven #1 WR with two years plagued by injuries. In 2015 he recorded 850 yards in 9 games. That's very impressive. While his injury issues were a red flag, he was a guy who was proven to produce but no one wanted to commit to him. I don't see Robinson's situation being that different honestly. He's putting all he has in FA to one year he was an elite WR that was two years and the other in which he a down year. I definitely think there's going to be a lot of teams interested in him, but I don't think there's going to be a lot of teams willing to commit long term to him.

He can definitely get a long term deal, but no one is going to pay him like a Julio or AB in manner in which he probably believe he can make upwards to if he's in a situation best for him.

It's a possibility, I surely wouldn't rule it out though I do not like our chances of signing him. FWIW I'd rather pay him 12-13M million then Landry.

As a top slot receiver, he's definitely worth 12. I doubt he gets more but who knows, desperate team might overpay.
