2018 Free Agency

Yes of course I do - I just mean that ours were more costly at the wrong time - we were most definitely the better team for the vast majority of that game so it’s seems ignorant to assume we can’t beat them

id say every mistake can be costly not just ours.

That makes no logical sense. "Even if we beat them I can't see is,beating them". They are a rival therefore the playoff Steelers ARE the regular season Steelers and record aside the regular season Steelers have not been impressive. You are buying into media hype too much.
And even add as a healthy team we may even be a more well rounded team than the Steelers, considering they have lost the least amount of games through 15 weeks than any team in their league while we have lost the most.

I think all that is really in hindsight. Prior to his injury history Eugene Monroe wasn't injury prone. He missed a game or two before he came here but he was an iron man outside of that and had back-to-back 16 game seasons. Webb was a lock down CB who got his contract before he tore his ACL. Before the ACL tear the man was a flat out stud.

I could understand the Jimmy arguments but we saw how our defense fared without him on the field in 2014. I always ask this question, if we play the NE Patriots in 2014 with Jimmy Smith, do we lose? I don't know, but I highly doubt we would've gave up 500 yards of passing offense to them. We've seen three times now that when Jimmy is not on the field, that this defense is simply not the same. Now we could have easily have let him go and watch him stay healthy elsewhere and be the All-Pro stud that he is and as fans sit here lamenting the fact that we didn't keep him. It was a gamble and it didn't work out for us. I would say that it was the right move just an unfortunate set of circumstances that hindered that decision. He played two 16 games seasons for us, you just had to hope that this year would be his third. If he was here right now then I'm really confident that we walk out of Pittsburgh with a win and potentially look at a SB run for this year.
Yea it’s hard to argue because it just seems we have gotten so unlucky. Signing Pitta to a long term contract after his injuries was straight up stupid. Every other NFL team would have done a one year prove it deal, something we have never done. And Webb was insane in 2011; a complete beast he was. The guy weighs 2 pounds more than Justin tucker and is an inch shorter. The only way he survived was agility, and 2 torn acls in 4 years shouldn’t = huge contract. Monroe was traded off the Jaguars for nothing, that should be a sign lol. He hated football and missed 50% of the time. I don’t mind the Jimmy contract but it shouldn’t have been a 6 year imo.

lets thank Clev for not getting jimmy G cause man that wouldve been crazy. Also if he dnt resign with niners its gonna be a dam bidding war for that man

Remember the steelers were down juju so that evens out. Monroe sucked and was overrated. The jags knew that and didn't want him back so unloaded him for whatever. A true lockdown left tackle in his prime woulda sold for more than late round draft picks free agent or not. It was a bad signing. Jimmy I agree with signing cuz there were not any options for a true No.1 cornerback. I believe some fans overrate him putting him with Sherman and company cuz he doesn't perform as dangerous of tasks as the top studs. But nonetheless he is a legit No.1 cornerback and was the only option. Pitta and wright was wasted money as was Rice. Even b4 KOing his gf he was a runner closing in on 30 with a lot of mileage on the tires since his college days. A fresh contract didn't make any sense. Webbs first contract made sense locking up a young stud early. But all the extensions after all his injuries didn't.

Jensen resigning is a priority. Not many centers man up one one one with great defensive lineman. He has allowed to cover up Hurst and Skura's deficiencies and use them on combo blocks. It's usually the center that is underpowered and used in many combo blocks. But Jensen is a rare center that can man up big bods and interior rushers. Jensen is the catalyst for the ravens run game. He is the attitude and anchor of the oline. It would be unfair to defensive lines if he was playing next to Yanda and Osemele. Or even Yanda and a Ron Leary or Brooks. Anyways for the run game to progress ravens need a stud guard next to Yanda.

On a side note Urschel coulda been great. His rookie year he played at 320lbs and was dominant. When willfork wants to know who you are as a rookie,he is doing something to impress him. What many fans don't realize is he felt it is unhealthy carrying around 320 lbs along with the hits and clashing of the NFL trenches. So he began playing at lighter weights. He played in 2015 at about 300 and last year at 285 or lighter yet didn't really get bulled around. Wasn't as impressive as late 2014 season and January 2015 but he didn't get bullied.

He’s going to get 30m per yr

I said bellichick is a moron letting him go. He is gonna be the best QB in the league for a long time!! He is as good as Brady. Yes I'm saying that!! Cleveland was interested but pats weren't trading him to afc team. Bellichick knows he is good but probably doesn't expect him to be the best after Brady retires.

He couldn’t keep him so he got something for him - but you’re right he still might regret it
Coulda kept him. Franchised him if need to. And let Brady walk after 2018 season. Then sign Garappolo to the big contract. Garappolo is the absolute best at the one skill nobody cares about when scouting QBs.

Has anyone watched film on Will Hernandez? He is just as good as Nelson imo and we have a much better chance with him. Nelson is more unmovable in the passing game, but Will is just as good in the run game. Amazing technique. A run left, behind Stanley, Hernandez, Jensen and Yanda... jeez man. Make it happen

I’m sure he would have but jimmy g didn’t want to be there as a backup which is why they let him leave

According to man games lost, the Steelers are the healthiest in the league and we have lost the most games along with the 9ers.
