Last two or three years more like suck and blow. You can't use "same" and "average" to describe our WR group. Average would be new to us. I wish it happens.

We didn't have to pay him $16 mil - deal could have been made to pay him what he's worth over 4 -5 years.Great can I have next week's lottery numbers too? Could use some money after getting picked.
I think without the right moves we could be a top 5 pick. Since the tampering period hasn't even begun yet. No thanks.
And paying Landry 16 mil would be asinine beyond human belief for us. Not only is he not worth it, but there are more pressing things. If you think only one WR is going to save us... Sorry to burst your bubble. The best plan of action is to fix the line in FA, get a reciever, and then go Ham in the draft
When there's a better option on the FA market that we don't have to sacrifice draft capital.. Not to mention other positions of need that could go a longer way.. No. We shouldn't of and thank god we didn't.You’re really telling me we could’ve given the Phins a 4th and 7th rounder for Landry? I wonder if we were the team that offered him 10 million, or if we offered anything at all. I feel like at this point he would’ve taken 12 million or something...we should’ve done it

1. If this team prioritizes the WR corps over the oline, we're fucked. Ask New York and the Falcons pre shannahan how well that worked out for everyone.
2. We have more pressing needs and Landry isn't the type of guy who's going to save us.
Let me name all the WRs in the league I'd take over Landry.. Even factoring age, some of these guy's I'd easily take. No questions asked. No particular order
- Antonio Brown
- Odell Beckham Jr.
- Julio Jones
- AJ Green
- Deandre Hopkins
- Tyreek Hill
- T.Y Hilton
- Brandin Cooks
- Keenan Allen
- Allen Robinson
- Larry Fitzgerald(despite his age)
- Adam Theline
- Micheal Thomas
- Mike Evans
- Alshon Jeffery(despite his streakiness I'd take in a heartbeat over him)
- Davante Adams
- Doug Baldwin
... Thats 17 guys I'd take over Landry. Sure Fitzgerald is old but who cares, he's better. Landry isn't a #1 WR. He's a damn good slot guy, hell probably the best slot guy in the entire league, but for that much money, he's not worth it. He's not an elite player. I'd be okay with giving Beckham an absurd amount, but Landry? Too expensive. Id rather spend money on the offensive line
My point is that the Browns decided to pony up a significant overpay. And given our needs acquiring him would've actually made our situation WORSE captually. He's a good player but he ain't worth what they're gonna pay him this year and I wouldn't be surprised if he fucks off elsewhere after this year as well. The Browns have made some improvements but there's no guarentee that they're amazing.Sure, they have more cap than they could possibly spend but they've been in this scenario every year for the past 8. I'll believe it when I see it.What's your point? None of these guys is available (Robinson is as good as gone). Landry was.
Stop. I never said we should have paid him $16M. I refuse to believe we were not able to give him 4 year deal he deserves though. My point is that the Browns decided to pony up a significant overpay. I am going to repeat this once, and only once.. LANDRY. WAS. A. PIPE. DREAM. WE. HAD. NO. CHANCE. The media got your hopes up. They suck, sorry they do that. The moment the Dolphins foolishly fucked themselves over, they fucked us over too. He's not worth what they paid him. I don't give a shit how desperate we are, he's not the kind of guy who is going to singlehandedly solve this problem.. We're better off getting a #2 in FA and then looking to the draft, which would still be a significant upgrade for the core. I don't give a shit if our track record is poor. That's the right move, There's a first time for everything.
Sorry you got your hopes up, there's a reason I wasn't on the Landry train though. Not only is he not worth what they paid him.. We weren't getting him anyway.
Which would also probably be a significant overpay. History tends to repeat itself if people don't learn. Landry looks like a classic WR overpay waiting to happen. We might've dodged a bullet here tbh.Stop. I never said we should have paid him $16M. I refuse to believe we were not able to give him 4 year deal he deserves though.
And let's wait and see what happens - I bet he has 4-5 year contract signed in Cleveland before this season starts.
Yeah, history tends to repeat itself. We keep doing the same shit and how did that work for us since 2013?Which would also probably be a significant overpay. History tends to repeat itself if people don't learn. Landry looks like a classic WR overpay waiting to happen. We might've dodged a bullet here tbh.
We'll see what happens, but he wasn't avaliable for us. He was not a realistic option. It's why I never got behind it. It'd be nice to get him or Robinson, but none of those guys are going to be avaliable for us. Which is fine. I'd rather us repurpose our resources to the oline and then address the receivers and TE in the draft. This class is deep enough to the point where we'd have to literally shoot ourselves in the foot to mess it up.
Tyrod is by default the best QB the new age browns have ever had. He alone is going to win them more games... It also ensures that they can take the draft's two best players, Barkley and Fitzpatrick...So browns now are shipping deshone kizer to green bay
as much as these moves are probably exciting in cleveland im not sure that anything about them is particularly exciting generally - they've picked up a below-franchise level qb, a high quality slot receiver and a mediocre cb...
and they've only been able to do this stuff because of the plan that sashi brown put into place ngl... there was always a 3 year plan in cleveland and it still bugs me that haslam didnt let sashi finish...
When players are on, they're on, I think Marvin Jones is a really good player but his best year prior to his deal was 712 yards and 10 TDs, not to mention he had durability concerns. I don't see how Landry shouldn't easily exceeds what he makes.Golden Tate isn’t as good as Landry but on his day Marvin Jones looks like the best receiver in the league - that’s how good he is when he’s on - I’ve never seen anything close to that level from Landry
My thoughts exactly and that was my fear as to why we wouldn't get Landry. I think our deal was identical but Cleveland was picking higher then us thus Miami took the best deal in front of them. From Miami's perspective, if they truly weren't comfortable paying Landry, the compensation they received is sensible. The best a team can receive is a compensatory 3rd, which is at the very bottom of the round. Now they're able to net a 4th and 6th, which could very well be in the early range should Cleveland continue their struggles, meaning that the theoretical compensatory 3rd might've been a mere few spots from their new 4th, and the latter comes with a potentially early 6th. And they no longer have to be cognizant of how many players they lose and gain via FA to ensure that they receive the comp.
Your claim is false since in 2016 we actually have adjusted our offseason strategy to include bigger name FAs (Weddle, Jefferson). We've been far more active in the past two seasons and have gotten better each one. You're literally complaining for the sake of complaining. Not saying to be optimistic, we do something wrong and we can say hello to a top 5 pick.. But we haven't been doing the same thing over and over again. That's an emotionally clouded claim. We can't afford to have those and thank god we don't.Yeah, history tends to repeat itself. We keep doing the same shit and how did that work for us since 2013?
Out of that deep class we're again going to get to watch our average QB throwing to worse receivers.
But all is dandy because we'll work hard to become the best team we can be.

I think concerns over his low YPC are legit, but I went back to the College tape and I saw a guy who was attacking the ball and making plays deep. I think Miami just has not put him in a lot of deep yardage situations honestly. I think Miami is reluctant to move him deep because of the lack of deep speed, but when you look at his college tape then it feels like you're looking at a different player entirely.Dennis Pitta averaged 8.5 yds. per catch in 2016, while pretty much falling down after every catch. Landry averaged 8.8 yards per catch last year. The guy is sure handed, no doubt. But he ain’t all that.
No, I'm complaining because we suck and I don't see signs of improvement yet.Your claim is false since in 2016 we actually have adjusted our offseason strategy to include bigger name FAs (Weddle, Jefferson). Literally, this receiving corps is upgraded from horseshit to average and we add an improvement or two on the oline and we can say hello to the playoffs again with how pathetic the AFC is
His QBs were Tannehil and Cutler. A noodle arm and an inaccurate cannon. Do you blame them lol?I think concerns over his low YPC are legit, but I went back to the College tape and I saw a guy who was attacking the ball and making plays deep. Lol Yeah, but I think there's more to it then him not having a deep element to his game because the college tape tells a different story. His QBs were Tannehil and Cutler. A noodle arm and an inaccurate cannon. Do you blame them lol?
Yes, bitching and moaning before the tampering period even begins and the moves become official is clearly a productive thing to do......No, I'm complaining because we suck and I don't see signs of improvement yet.
Then this shit just got even dumber.. In fact.. HAHAHA. Oh the BrownsReports are that the browns aren’t giving him a long term deal - that both he and they are happy to let him play on the tag
