Fire Marty

Am I the only one that thinks the offense would look a lot better if we had a up and coming OC instead of someone who was a good OC 10+ years ago like Marty and Marc Trestman?
I think if we found a better successor for Kubiak that kept his style of offense with maybe a bit more of an ability to make adjustments, then the Ravens would be doing just fine.

I don't have a ton of confidence that Greg Roman is a good long term solution, but we'd have more of an identity with his play calling than we ever had with Trestman or Marty.

Roman can install spread concepts like he did under Jim Harbaugh with Alex Smith. This allowed Smith to get more comfortable and finally start to play well.

gary kubiak showed what a good o.c. can do for a slipping team. our o.c. doesn't have to be young, but he has to be good to help this team. prolly to late for this year. a good one next yr is a must

I think the difference is Gary Kubiak isn't stuck in his ways like I feel Marty and Trestman are. I feel like they both lack the ability to adapt to the way the game is played today.

I just wonder when we stop calling out the coordinator, receivers, tight ends, offensive line, and running backs and begin to consistently call out Joe.
That's what I'm getting at. Potentially three OCs fired, though I'll excuse firing Cam as it brought us a SB but after that its been a revolving door at OC and only one has been successful for us. At some point you need to look at the QB.

I honestly do not have a problem with Marty's decision running the ball and I do not see what type of issues people are having, if anything I think we didn't run enough. Alex Collins finished with 74 yards on 15 carries and Buck had 49 on 10 carries. Thats a combined 149 Yards on 4.9 YPC, I don't see how people can get upset with Marty's decision to run. The run game was literally the only thing working for us, Joe threw the ball 41 times and got picked twice, one that was ran back for a TD, they had basically 9 points total off of FGs and I think two of them came from defensive turnovers. Receivers weren't getting open, OL wasn't protecting, what more can you really expect out of the passing game? Joe could've easily have thrown another INT.

That’s why we needed to run more, but the last drive of first half we had to pass a lot, which is a big reason the numbers are so much more in the passing game.

Your addition is off, we had 123 arms rushing or 4.92 ypc. Still a reason to run more, especially with wr not getting open.

Yeah my bad, it's 124 for 4.92YPC, I did the calculation but for some odd reason I put 149. Point is though is that I don't think people should be upset with Marty's approach to the run game. We weren't really in a rush to pass it until Joe's pick 6 which hurt us bad, really would have helped if we had prevented Amos running it back for a TD.

Yeah, the pick 6 being changed to just a pick would have been fine.

Mayfield seems like an awesome college quarterback, but not an NFL quarterback.
That's what they said about Russel Wilson also. Baker doesn't run often and he is accurate. He is mobile and not a runner, that would work well with this offense. Also questionable enough to not have to trade up in the first. He can beat big teams, has a 17/1 td int ratio, I don't mind him.

The issue with Wilson was literally just height. Everything else screamed first round talent.

Not sure I can justify scapegoating yet another coordinator. It's begun to appear we need wholesale change. There is something no longer resonating philosophically.

I just want a OC who throws the ball downfield when the top 3 receivers are deep threats. I'm tired of playing the short passing game with receivers who struggle with complete route running to get open. They were drafted and are getting paid for their straight line speed and we don't even utilize their strengths.

Even Marty said the team needed to start off faster and open up the offense more last week... Guess what the team went back into the same old same old the first few weeks. I really do think a coordinator change would be great. But I'm not sure if Roman would be the answer. The team needs someone younger who knows the new NFL philosophies and one that understands that players need to be utilized to their strengths or of course they will struggle. This is just a repeat of Trestman all over again.

It's sad that I think I would take Cam Cameron's play calling today than I would Marty's or Trestman's
I feel the same. Cam was a bad OC and there's a good reason he's not in the NFL anymore and lost an OC job in college football, but he was better than Trestman and Marty.

It was just as predictable of play calls... But he threw it downfield and actually set up his players for success. I think the only knock was his predictability...

The issue seems to be that Marty lets the flow of the game decide his play-calling- and that leads to the predictability that is part of the reason why the offense is ineffective (mental errors and the revolving door of injuries also play a significant role). That's why there has not been a lead change in a Ravens game all season.

There are numerous things which need to improve on offense, but I don't actually think Marty is any more or less responsible than guys like Joe, Chris Moore, Eluemunor (just to name a few) who have been making costly bad decisions/mental mistakes.

Well, that and a total lack of use of the middle of the field and a disdain for the slot position.
