What's even funnier to me is that Sills directly said that they expected the positives to tail off on Friday based on the incubation period... yet here we are 2 days later with more guys that have tested positive. For the sake of our team and of course, the players' health, I hope there are no more positives. But I'd also laugh my ass off if there were more tomorrow and they continue to remain insistent on playing. It's ridiculous.

If there is a positive today, they’ll be moving the game to week 18, right? Like I don’t see how they can play without 2 consecutive days of no positives

The wailing from the Steelers players and fans is nauseating . If there is any game I want to win this year , it's this one.

this has always been the biggest issue with the NFL testing regimen and was unfortunately always a way that an outbreak could happen - it's a shame we had a selfish coach to kick off this outbreak

but dont get mixed up - the NFL testing protocols are partly guilty here too

I think it's more likely to forfeit the game instead of postponing given how the nfl managed prior outbreaks.

so we could potentially have practiced yesterday despite Willie Snead testing positive but we're not allowed to practice today???

make it make sense please!

Well all I'm gonna say is if they really make us play it's gonna be Gus and Dez SZN. This is actually just so ridiculous I can't even believe really. Watching Rossis cognitive dissonance is not fun. The guy just wants the situation to make sense. NFL give him some piece for the love of God.

Read some reporting/opinions on this already. Basically, the idea of a "forfeit" is largely not realistic, or at least, not without a prolonged union/league battle.

Forfeited games, per the CBA, means players don't get paid. That'd be a problem.

I mean... are they really wrong though? The tail end doesn't mean completely done with positive results. It means towards the end, i.e. reduced levels of people testing positive.

Isn't that what's happening? How many tested positive earlier in the week vs a day or two ago?

To be more specific, Dr. Sills said they expected Friday to be the end of the positive tests based on their contact tracing and the "known" incubation period. 2 days later... still positives. Today still TBD.

True. I've also read Zrebiec's twitter, and while he wouldn't speculate, he did say that he's heard rumors/rumblings that some of the "newer" tests, like Snead, are results of possibly still not following protocol. Nothing confirmed or reported, but having isolated cases of transmission could be the result of multiple screw ups.

I'm not surprised in the slightest the NFL cancelled practice. I'm sure they're either waiting on yesterday's tests or this mornings test results before they would green light today's practice or travel. If I were a betting man, I'd say if there's any confirmed cases today, via the latest round of testing, then they'll bail on the game. I understand the NFL is pushing hard to play this game, and I think they should, but I don't think they'll allow a team to fly with no days of confirmed negative tests.

But all of this movement this morning in a shit show. You're telling a team consistently that they have to play tomorrow despite a continuing outbreak. Fine, we already know why the NFL is doing that. But now they're telling the same team they can't do a damn walkthrough the day before the game - the day that they're supposed to fly out to Pittsburgh - as they await testing results. It's the last part that's damning. They're so confident that this is the tail end, yet they make a move like this that shows they really have no clue if more positives are on the horizon.

No consistency at all. Cancelling a walkthrough is actually a good move, but it shows all they've been saying up until this point is lip service and that they actually have no idea.

it's the fact that coaches and players had already arrived at the facility that's so ridiculous - the NFL only seems to have made that call after people were already in the building - they've said no access to the building til 5pm i dont get what the difference is between 9:30am and 5pm unless there's imminent positive(s) that they know about that havent been reported yet but given the reporting during this outbreak you'd have thought we'd have heard about a rapid test positive last night from somewhere
