Fire Dean Pees Thread

Mosely is most likely playing with an injury, but we need another ilb, Correa or Peanut aren’t cutting it.
Mosley is playing with a neck injury. Which is weird. Last year he didn’t look slow in the slightest and was actually a good LB in coverage. Last night something was off. A neck injury shouldn’t slow you down like that. Or put you out of position.

But I agree. We do need something else there. Peanut is merely a rotational piece and Correa is a bust

Sorry, not blaming Pees for the pass rush not getting home or Brandon Carr getting his ass burnt or Mosley getting wrecked by an average joe tight end. Steelers won because they won their matchups. There's little a DC can do about blown coverages and missed tackles.

If your #1 LB who's supposedly a top five backer can't fucking cover Jesse goddamn James, what the hell is a defensive coordinator supposed to do? When Jimmy Smith is out and the rest of the secondary is slow, what the hell can Pees actually do? When we played man or press, we got beat deep. When we played zone, we gave up chunks down the field. We just couldn't win a matchup.

I will never blame Pees for Mosley/Weddle letting Jesse James get 10 catches for 97 yards and Vance McDonald (who?) getting four catches for 52 yards. Seriously, the tight ends combined for 14 for 150 yards and people are blaming Pees? Jesse James got a quarter of his entire season's production in one game last night. On the year, he has 39 catches for 356. He got 10 and 100 of those just last night. That ain't Pees's fault.

I will probably not blame Pees for Brown getting 200 yards. Brown beat every coverage we threw at him. Press? He got the nine route. Off man? He got the dig. Zone? He jogged to a spot and got it. We threw the kitchen sink at Brown schematically and we just couldn't execute.

I will also not blame Pees for Marty not killing the clock like he should have.

We sang praises to Pees's honor all year until Ben and Brown take us to the woodshed, and all of a sudden Pees is the problem? Fuck outta here with that noise. That doesn't make sense.

The players played like shit, and I think the reality is fans would rather trash the DC than come to terms with the fact that fan favorites like Weddle and Mosley got messed up.

Ozzie when evaluating a DT

''Is he 330 pounds'' ?

''Is he a run stuffer''?

Sir, Aaron donald is 300 pounds and...

ozzie '' nope, pass''.

alright, terrence cody...

ozzzie '' Now that's a raven..350 pounds of roll tide..

A neck injury gives me concern about Mosley's future. Jameel McClain was starting to look like a real good LB, and he was never the same after he got that neck injury. He was never the same player.

But yeah. Last year, Mosley could run with every TE in the league and some WRs. Now this? Maybe the weight gain was a bad idea for him. Him playing at 250 might not be the best call.

Yeah. I don’t want him out there if it could worsen his career. When Mosley is on his A game he is a top 10 ILB and we know that.

Maybe the weight gain was bad. But even then he’s always also been one for good positioning. That’s been somewhat off this season too.

Again, despite angry posting, not in the fire Pees camp, but we draft a shiny new LB out of Houston who specializes in coverage and we don’t rotate him into that role more often when he’s got natural coverage ability? Makes little to no sense to me. Look at what Myles Jack and Telvin smith have done for Jacksonville with their abilities in coverage.

And next offseason we seriously need another pass rusher to emerge.

We didn’t pass on Aaron Donald, he was taken 13th overall

don't compare out front 7 to jax's. there's is a pass rushing machine.

Did I compare the entire front seven? Even without the pass rush those two have done wonders for the rest of the unit with their coverage abilities. Makes life harder for recievers going across the middle and for TEs

pass rush makes covering much easier.
No shit, but those two are elite athletes that are similar to Bowser and are used correctly. I would like to see Bowser utilized more there. Correa and Peanut have been struggling as well. Rotate him in there more.

Why would we do that when we could send Bowser on blitzes and watch him do his best ZDS impression? /s

You do realize blowing 4th quarter leads has been Dean's speciality right? Im talking more so firing hin and then us no longer blowing leads and actually keeping them.
This was the first lead we blew in the 4th qtr this season. Actually only the 2nd lead we have blown all season. The last being a 3pt lead

It will only temporarily make us better. FWIW, I've heard in NE his defenses blew leads too late in games.

pretty sure hes been on the injury report with an ankle injury for the last few weeks... so even if this week was a neck id find it hard to think that suddenly that ankle is better...

and a neck injury absolutely hinders movement - it makes flexibility uncomfortable which will affect his ability to turn and find the ball in the air, and can make you hesitant to make physical tackles

i agree we need another linebacker but to say that mosley's injuries couldnt have affected him seems a bit misguided
