The WR Thread

I was never a kaufusi fan lol. Also with both of the others I simply did my best to see the upside, I didn't like either pick when we made them. Dunno how many times I have to explain this to you, it was simply optimism.

Suuuuure dude. It's ok you loved Correa. Kufusi. Those are your boys. Be proud!! Stand up for them!! Some fan/friend you are!! Abandon and kick them while down while renouncing your love for them. And what about Breshad are you gonna walk over his face to while walking away?? Your screwed up man!! Where's loyalty??

Just started watching wide receivers.....after a couple games, not enough perhaps but I find Sutton disappointing after hearing of him being a first round wideout. Appears stiff and boxey in movement.....not particularly fast or quick...May have build up speed...Appears long in stride and underwhelming hands.

Anthony Miller is my favorite of the guys I've seen so far.

id be interested in your thoughts on ridley, kirk, washington, cain, ateman

dude, joey never liked correa and kaufusi - he just tried to see the best in them after we drafted them - i cant remember his thoughts on perriman

Yep, that’s how it went down
Lol thank you, I have this convo with him every year. And for Perriman, my thoughts were basically "we finally draft a first round receiver... and it's breshad fucking Perriman...". With the drops I wrote him off, but I did get genuinely excited about him later because of all the circus catches he made in college and his clear big play ability, I figured that the #1s all drop the ball sometimes and it's no big deal if he makes up for it with big plays.

But sadly there's a lot more than just drops, he doesn't have it between the ears, at all.

Yes he did!! Kufusi s freakish 3 cone and Correas freakish burst and intensity. Perriman's massive potential. Shame on him for deserting his boys!! He doesn't deserve to be a ravens fan!!

watching some wrs today, gonna give some scouting reports.

Cedrick Wilson, Boise St.
pros:
- long and tall, he appears lanky but a closer look shows a pretty damn solid dude who can get physical
- highly explosive and great top speed, defenses will be afraid of him going deep every snap
- rapid chopping feet and exaggerated cuts, when he makes a cut he chops his feet at a ridiculous speed and scares the shit out of defenders, he leaves guys falling on their asses quite a bit
- can make some great adjustments on the ball when coverage compromises the easy catch
- shields off well in crossing patterns to secure the ball in his gut, can secure passes behind him on crossers as well, gets upfield well in these situations

cons:
- can occasionally make a 50/50 catch but doesnt appear to do it often, not a strong suit of his
- the great cuts and choppy feet i mentioned above are inconsistent, he tends to round off high-breaking crossing routes almost as if hes afraid to break stride once he builds speed, if he learned to stomp and cut on these 10+ yard ins/outs/slants he would be deadly
- doesnt beat press with physicality, if he doesnt shake the defender off the line he will struggle big time to get upfield
- doesnt find soft spots, plays impatient
- doesnt attack the ball the way you would like, could stand to learn the concept of coming toward the qb to gain the extra step of separation, seems to think the deeper the better
- solid, but could still stand to thicken up

pro comparisons: marqise lee.

match for the ravens: i really like cedrick wilson on film, he looks like he could be the NFLs next household name big play threat, just a super exciting prospect, but for some reason i worry about his fit with us. he has a very solid route game that features some strong and explosive cuts that gain immediate separatiion, but the downside that stands out most to me is his inability to find the soft spots and sit and be patient and make himself available in these pitch and catch situations, which is something we desperately lack and ultimately why i prefer some other guys over this very exciting prospect. however, i would be thrilled with him in the second based on his upside and his basement of basically being a big play waiting to happen.

Christian Kirk, TA/M
pros:
- natural route runner, shifty, sudden, highly aware, savvy, creative, and adapts to the defense well to slip past the coverage
- respectable speed, but the shiftiness and fluidity is where he wins, he makes strong sharp cuts without breaking stride
- cuts come very sudden, will change direction without giving much indication of it and gets separation by surprise
- as reliable a set of hands as youll see in this class, if a ball hits his hands/gut/arms he will almost certainly catch it
- plays patient, plays smart, plays savvy. can make those small mid play adjustments to make himself an easier target
- changes gears well to lull defenders to sleep, uses this exceptionally well on inside breaking routes to get the db backpedaling then stomps that outside foot to cut in and gears up for easy separation
- runs an elite comeback route, attacks ball well on comebacks and shallow crossers
- built strong despite smaller stature, broad shouldered and tough, good center of gravity
- ultra competitive, chip on his shoulder
- just a straight up natural wide receiver and ball player, i will put money up that this guy will be top 10 in the league in the "clutch" stats, like 3rd down conversions, red zone touchdowns, etc.

cons:
- not the flashiest guy, has made big plays in college, but his savviness and awareness played a big part, in the NFL he wont be an elite explosion kind of guy
- despite being a focal point for gadget plays he seemed to struggle with breaking/evading tackles, lots of failed end-arounds, humphrey made kirk his bitch multiple times in 2016 on bubble screens
- isnt a contested catch kinda guy, if the defender has his back turned to the ball he most certainly can catch it, but he doesnt excel in the body positioning/body adjusting/boxing out/highpointing department

pro comparisons: golden tate, jamison crowder.

match for the ravens: ill take this kid, maybe at 16, id prefer others, but i wouldnt hate it. hes gonna have a solid career, and its gonna start solid because hes as nfl ready as they come. you see the IT factor with this guy, he just understands the WR position and has the physical tools to allow him to play his own game. he should be a high volume target who gets a lot of catches on easy targets due to his ability to separate and secure the ball regardless of his surroundings.

im gonna do some more when my son stops being a dick and "accidentally" kicking my laptop

This was not prior to the draft. It came after the draft.

Yes it was.

I'm playing around with flex. But everybody needs to be honest about draft picks. I mean we all get a lil overhyped sometimes about picks including yours truly. But not every early round pick is gonna be a stud. So how can peeps shout how great every pick is gonna be. I mean rebel a little about a couple picks. It's ok to say u think a player is gonna flop and express optimism simultaneously.

I like Wilson but Kirk could struggle against NFL cornerbacks. I would prefer to sign Marqise Lee. Coached up already and ready to breakout. He attacks the ball more consistently beginning late last yr. he won't cost bankroll. But could very well perform that way.

Yes he did!! Kufusi s freakish 3 cone and Correas freakish burst and intensity. Perriman's massive potential. Shame on him for deserting his boys!! He doesn't deserve to be a ravens fan!!
i never said a word about kaufusis 3 cone, there were a few people that touted his 3 cone number often and i always said that doesnt matter to me when he plays too weak for 5T and too slow for edge rusher. i liked his underhook and his motor and that was it.

and correa did have freakish burst and intensity, he had the best first step of any edge rusher in his class, and had a hell of a motor, he seemed like the workaholic type due to his hustle and passion for football on film, if he in fact was a workaholic then one could reasonably assume he puts all that together to become a solid player. but what you cant always diagnose on film is a player having absolutely no clue what hes doing mentally.

I'm playing dude. It's complicated and time consuming. but u can get a good idea of a players mental capacity. Especially QBs!! And thank u 4 finally calling perriman a bust!! Rebel a little!!

lol i literally said the INSTANT we drafted kaufusi that we just wasted a pick with kendall fuller and andrew billings still on the board.

and i was shouting at the top of my lungs for michael thomas or noah spence in that second round, and when we took correa it was a total "meh" moment for me, but nobody can deny that correa had maybe the most impressive "uncoachable" traits of that years edge rusher crop, his first step and top speed were absurd, unfortunately he doesnt seem coachable, thats hard to diagnose before the draft

I have a supernatural memory. What you actually said was Kufusi was gonna get blasted in the NFL on our 3man front. Remember?? Lmao

Kirk is not actually a very refined route runner. He's quick and super athletic and he can live by that even in the NFL, but there is rolm for progress there.

weird, he looks pretty refined to me, more savvy than refined, but refined nonetheless. he has a very apparent feel for weaving in and out of the soft spots in the defense. and i stand by my statement that his comeback route is elite.

What I mean is he doesn't bluff or sell anything to the DB. Guys like Ridley or Sutton use headfakes and very precise changes of direction. Cain has an elite release and uses leverage as well as anyone.
Kirk doesn't do any of that. He just goes from point A to point B to point C and at no point the DB is guessing, which is still fine because Kirk is quicker and faster anyway.
