What position will the Ravens select with their first pick in the draft?

that’s 8 players right there off the top of my head that we shouldn’t have too much interest in that are essentially guaranteed to go ahead of 55. Factor in probably 10-16 horrible picks because the second round is LOADED with either reaches on raw upside guys or reaches on low ceiling guys, I think we’re gonna get 2 really good players, just have to hope the guy we pick pans out. I really think Terrell Lewis ends up a raven at 55, and I’m worried about that but also excited.

I wouldn’t mind having Josh Jones and moving him to guard. And even Delpit with his tackling issues. He’s just so dahm good in coverage.

Mims would be a better run blocker than a receiver in our offense lol. Adding Shenault to our offense would add another dimension to our run game. I love the fit but injuries do scare me a bit.

I wouldn’t just call him just possession receiver he has better route running skills then people give him credit for. I rarely saw him get jammed at the line of scrimmage. Clemson sent him deep quite often. There were times were corners were all over him but he just outsized them for the ball. Probably the best ball skills in the class
 
I dont see us drafting a WR and imo we should try to bring in guys via trade. A rookie WR isnt going to take us to the SB, we need experience. I'd rather go offensive line and defense. Delpit is my guy been watching him for 2 years. Thomas is on his last legs and who better to mentor the successor. I'm all in with Jonathan Taylor as well, dude is a star and like Thomas I dont see Ingram with us in 2021 and if he is great but his injury was significant. Love Gus but I definitely wouldn't mind the competition. We run the ball yall we dont need a 100 rec. kinda guy that's not Lamar's game. Spread the ball around and pound the rock. Ravens Football.
 
We have young guys on this roster that are better than Roberts. We never give them real game time experience. They flash in preseason then ride the bench and make tackles on ST....I'm talking about Jaleel Scott. With Boykin and Snead not to mention Wesley who definitely needs an opportunity we're ok. Just one more guy with experience and top end speed is what we need at the position.

I don’t see jones a guard type though, I’ve heard a few say that but I just don’t see it, he’s like a pass pro LT purist lol, like the prototype, I just really don’t see guard with him

I mean, I feel like this is pretty bad analysis by Sharp though...
1. If we take David Newton's tweet as gospel, he doesn't say that Carolina felt Simmons was better than Brown... it says they felt Simmons was more athletic, which obviously isn't a surprise, because he is. More athletic doesn't automatically equal better player.
2. I actually think the Panthers thought process was pretty spot on. The position they took is generally a more valuable position in the league, I think it fills a bigger need, and as far as their analysis of versatility, one could argue that taking a player like Simmons on a rebuilding team could hamstring or make your decisions more difficult moving forward.

If you played him at Safety this year, is he a Safety for good? Do you target linebacker next year or Safety next year, and move him to linebacker? Every team would have similar questions, unless you're a team that already has some decent players at some of these spots, like Arizona does.

Honestly I dont think The Ravens should have full confidence in those guys. This year draft class is too deep for The Ravens to not even attempt at drafting a receiver. They missed out in 2014 when that draft class was deep at the positon and they probably cant afford to do the same this year. Even if The Ravens do have full confidence in their young receivers outside of Brown and Snead I think its important The Ravens draft a receiver with speed and can be used as a kick/ punt returner.

I can get your idea of why The Ravens should trade for a veteran receiver instead but honestly those guys are probably going to cost more. Why do that if a receiver in this draft can do the same or more than a veteran receiver at a much cheaper rate?
 
yeah, gallimore is basically an average starter in this league. He'll have a solid if unspectacular career most likely.

yeah we're getting 1 WR today at least - and if we dont have 2 today then i think we'll be getting the 2nd one for sure tomorrow

+ with the way that shanahan schemes his receivers open, beating press isnt as high of a priority there as it is most places

yeah sometimes warren sharp can get a little too big for himself - i thought the same as you about the panthers quote about simmons and brown

that being said a lot of the other things he's said in that tweet thread are pretty valid
