Joe Flacco

It might not be such a bad thing. From the looks of it we need all these games to pour over who to pick at backup QB

Injury aside shouldnt we expect more from Flacco as a player considering how much hes being paid? While hes no Boller hes been disappointing for a few years now.

Not that I think it's The Ravens coaching staff or Ozzie fault totally but Joe Flacco hasn't been really in the most stable situation since being named MVP of The Super Bowl in 2012. I think it's unfair for us to expect so much from him when he has had to deal with consistent offensive coordinator changes. I guess it's easy for us to criticize him because he makes so much money but learning a playbook and actually developing some form of chemistry with the offensive coorinator isn't a cake walk like some seem to believe.

Did Joe ever hold his receivers camp like he said he would?
I read somewhere that earlier in the offseason before Maclin got here they got together once or twice(which if you saw him with Perriman in minicamp that actually probably happened at some point). Not sure where I did, but it is possible he didn't.

Unfair to expect much from the highest paid and most important player on our team? Are we supposed to be happy that hes not quite as bad as Boller?

No you are supposed to be rational and understand that

A. His salary is standard franchise QB money
And
B. One player does not win alone. Tom Brady doesn't, Peyton didn't and Rodgers hasn't. It takes a team.

Never heard about him organizing a "camp" as such. One where he sets up a weekend or so out of town the way a lot of quarterbacks have.
He threw with some, I heard Perriman, at the facility in Owings Mills.

which to be honest is just semantics...

Look at his stats before and after the SB hes been coasting since he got paid, making excuses and blaming everyone else is ridiculous because at the end of the day he controls the ball and whether the defense is overworked. But hey, even as a slightly below average QB hes still better than Boller right? well we werent paying Boller $20M+

Since Joe Flacco is the highest paid and most important player on the team then don't you think he should have been place in a stable situation consistently ? Ever since Gary Kubiak left it's been a circus show on offense. Flacco has not had a offensive coordinator more than one year since Cam Cameron was fired. Truthlyfully Cam Cameron has been the only offensive coordinator in Joe Flacco career that lasted more tan 2 years and we all know him and Joe weren't the bestest of friends. Marc Trestman only lasted a year and half . Even before Gary Kubiak and others were bought on board Flacco had to play under the worst offensive line probably in Ravens history in 2013. The 2014 season has been the most stable situation offensively for Joe Flacco since The Ravens won the Super Bowl. It's been almost four years since The Ravens won the Super Bowl and extended Flacco to a huge contract and out of those fours years only one year so far is the best they can do for Joe ?

I think that's ridiculous and I know The Ravens couldn't help Gary Kubiak from leaving but they have to know this year that it's important that do better by Joe. I know he's the highest paid player on the team and I know he's the most important player on the team but we can't expect him to make a crab cake sandwhich with bologna.

I hear you can do it with carp lol. The big problem with joe is he needs to get accuracy down and surprisingly on short passes where he needs to lead the receiver. His dumpoffs are great tho lol. His problem with new OC's should only be terminology and getting that playbook down but the OC has also got to play to Joe's strengths which are not quick timing where he seems to not get set and throw off his bavk foot all the time

Reality isn't an excuse. If Tom Brady breaks his throwing arm it's not making excuses if he doesnt play. I suspect who has an idea and will believe it despite all evidence to the contary, but maybe im wrong.

First off 20m is standard franchise QB money and you know already every other franchise QB deal over the next several years will blow that away.

Second, let's talk about this so called "coasting" that happened after the SB.

2013 was a bad year and there is no denying that. Now was it bad because we let Boldin go, Putta got hurt, Rice was useless and hurt, or KO was hurt towards the end of season making the entire running game the worst in the NFL, its hard to say, but it was bad.

Fortunately that didn't continue in 2014 where Flacco set then career highs in yards, TDs and passer rating (except for yards they are all still highs). Despite Pitta being down and Rice being gone we made it to the playoffs again and Flacco outplayed Brady AGAIN and if not for a massive choke in the name of Melvin the Ravens easily make the championship game and maybe the SB.

2015 is the year of what could have been if not for injuries. First game Denver is beat then Suggs goes down and Peyton engineers his longest drive ever. Still almost won if not for a SSS drop. Same with game 2 but he also gets, injured. This cobtinues until Joe himself goes down. Bad year, legendarily good draft.

2016 comes and Flacco sets carreer marks in yards and completion %. However his early season play showed he clearly was not healthy, though he did turn it on later. In addition, skill position play was inconsistent all year long. No TE could catch the ball consistently except Pitta, but he couldnt get YAC. WR play was good but not great. Wallace had a hot start but fizzled late. SSS clearly lost a step and Perran was unable to consistently secure the ball.

These aren't excuses. They are literally what happened each season and i could have gone into more detail about the running game and blocking issues but im technically still at work so no time.

On the whole I tend to agree as long as the work is done and an effort is made to get as many receivers as possible involved.

However, If it's important enough for Manning, Brady, Luck, Brees, Wentz, Matt Ryan, Rodgers, and on and on.....It could be worth Joe taking the initiative.

Youre making the same excuses for him, yes he needs a strong oline, ground game and defense etc but thats because he's not capable of carrying an offense like other highly paid QBs.

Joe is expected to not play in any preseason games but be ready for week 1 against the bengals

If anyone needs work it is Flacco! He needs to play in at least 1 quarter in 2 games prior to the Bengals.

Are we really bashing Flacco when he has not taken a single snap thus far this season?
