The Random Thought Thread

Everything takes too damn long. Move everything forward a week, for my own selfish impatient reasons.

And then once everything moves forward a week I’ll have the same complaint and want it another week earlier.

I’m unashamedly a uni whore
And we await your reaction.......

No but i wanna go.. i plan on it
Take a deep breath before you see the prices of things there. Holy shit. Of course I'm going right when the solar eclipse happens to be so things are even more expensive. BUT, I haven't taken a vacay in 4 years and I just finalized my divorce so it was time for an EPIC adventure. Rented a camper van and am planning on driving around the entire island before ending back in Reykjavik for a Bjork show under the eclipse.

It is pretty darn expensive. A tiny room will set you back $250-350/night. That is if you want a tiny attached bath. Food is expensive as well. I didn't rent a car, but I've heard that is a good way to go. Good luck because it is worth a visit.

you can find it for less, but you also could do a cruise out of southampton that would hit multiple areas of Iceland and may even go to Ireland as well.

Yeah. I thought about a cruise but I used to work on cruiseships so they dont do much for me. I like to immerse in the area, not have to rush back to the ship. To each their own though!

Yeah. I almost booked a room and rented a car to explore but a friend told me the way to really do it is go camping and explore. The camper van was $2800 for 8 days so it was "affordable" by Iceland standards.

I can totally understand where you are coming for especially since you worked on cruises. My wife like to do both land and sea. When we were in Asia in the fall we had a week in Tokyo at the beginning of the cruise and four days at the end in Singapore, with a two week cruise in between that hit Taipai, Kagoshima Japan, and Hong Kong. We had 3 full days in Hong Kong due to missing Vietnam due to a typhoon.

Thats the way to do it. But with my personal circumstances, just getting out and hitting the open road alone is just what I need right now.
