The Random Thought Thread

Kinda weird that a team is playing at 5pm lol. But thank God we're still playing at 1pm. Fuck these later time games.
Guess we'll know the fate of our game against the Packers next week. That too is scheduled for a Saturday but no time announced.

Harbaugh on Emery Jones playing Left Guard opposed to Right Guard, says in an "emergency" he could play on the right side.

This shouldn't be too surprising. They flipped him around in like his first week or so of practice to see where he felt more comfortable. They also view LG as a bigger issue than RG, so that's where he stuck.

This is to advise everyone of my recently published book--Sudden Death: The Green Bay Packers, the Baltimore Colts, and the NFL, 1965. It is the story of the 1965 season NFL told through that year's conference race between the Colts and Green Bay. And again, the "sudden death" reference refers not to the 1958 NFL championship game but the 1965 playoff game between the Packers and the Colts (this is the Don Chandler field goal game). You can go to my website www.suddendeath1965.com for excerpts and more information. It is available through Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and you might be able to find it at the Babe Ruth Museum as well as some bookstores in the Baltimore area.

Generally, I ain't gonna believe any of that shit lol, but...

1. I'm sure there are players on every single team that want their coach fired.

2. It's been awhile since I've heard anything but it was still somewhat positive at the time. Him being back in TX means nothing though. Most guys who are done for the year go back home.

Take this with a boulder of salt but this was posted on Ravens Reddit
So I'm not saying any of this is impossible, but:
1. Saying "players get secret surgeries in the offseason" isn't reporting anything new. And they're not secret. The team literally announces like a half dozen surgeries within weeks of the season ending every year. Most of us could look up and down the rosters and find at least 3-4 guys who are playing through injuries that they're merely delaying surgery for today. And there's still 5+ weeks to go.
2. I think fans need to get past this idea that Mads is going to announce his retirement. I'd be completely shocked if he did, even if he internally knows he's never playing again. I think its far too early in the process to make any of those claims anyway, and most importantly, he has $22M of fully gtd salary for 2026 that I seriously doubt he's going to walk away from. Even if internally he has no ability to ever play again, I'd be shocked if he does anything other than spend the entirety of 2026 on PUP/IR, collect the $22M, and then retire like 14 months from now.
3. I don't know his living situation definitively, but it's not like NFL players having multiple residences, or not even living full-time in the city they play in, is shocking. Given that he grew up in Dallas and played college at Texas A&M, the idea of him having a residence in TX for the last like 5+ years wouldn't surprise anybody. No different than Ray Lewis fleeing to Miami every offseason.

Probably the info I have that I feel least confident about, for what it's worth. My guy said it's just been silent on that front, and not in a good or bad way. Truly sounds like a wait and see thing, because it's a rest and recovery thing, not a surgery thing. I don't think they're necessarily operating in a manner that suggests he's going to be back, but they also aren't operating in a manner that says he's done. It really seems like it's truly as much of an unknown to them right now as it is us, because they just have to wait.
