The Random Thought Thread

Puts our tackles performance in perspective compared to the league. They’re not bad. Wish I could see something like this for our guards

there is a version with IOL

notable that his is also specifically about pass blocking

Linderbaum grading out with the 2nd toughest assignments in the NFL based on the center charting, still coming in top 10 in terms of pass protection grade over expectation which is a good sign

weirdly vorhees looks ok based on the charts as well... ironically in a similar range on the graph to kevin zeitler... by my reckoning that chart is suggesting he's had the 8th toughest assignments in the NFL at guard... but i might be misunderstanding the chart

what is strange is that i can't find faalele on the chart at all lol

So if you zoom in and look under dalton risner’s name, you’ll see the top outline of our logo behind a mass of other logos, and they didn’t have room to fit his name. Took me a while to find it

they arent above average when we watch their ass
I mean some of that is how Lamar plays. He holds the ball longer and uses his mobility to evade until someone gets open. PFF considers it a win though if you hold up for 2.5 seconds.

Honestly it’s why I think so little of every WR not named Zay Flowers. Lamar has to dance around for 5-6 seconds for them to eventually get open.

i think, given it's pass pro, that i'm most surprised by RR's grading
I do really think people underrate how hard it is having a bad gaurd next to them, especially with a typical inside out free rusher scenario where you might be ditching your guy 1/5 plays to help inside on the free linebacker. We talk about how much it hurts Tyler but being a second year tackle with a guy who often can't even get his hands on a player sounds terrible.

What I like about RR is he isn't a mauler by any means but he's a technician with good form and even when he gets beat it's usually after 2-3 seconds. Not sure how pff or people grade letting the rusher get to the qb, but obviously blocking a guy for 2.5 every play is a lot better than for .5 lol
