The Random Thought Thread

Yeah... someone tweeted out that person had Allen, Saquon, Burrow then Lamar. WTF.
The Burrow thing is weird to me. If they wanted to have Allen, Saquon, and then Lamar, I would not agree with it but I could not object to it, but Allen's entire argument is his team success so having Burrow ahead of Lamar when the Bengals lacked that just creates a hypocritical ballot.

I’m sure I’ll get flamed for this but I do think Josh Allen was at least deserving. I still think Lamar should have gotten it, but doesn’t mean Josh wasn’t a top candidate too. By the definition of MVP, he carried a largely shitty and injured team pretty far and I respect that at least. I think if Lamar didn’t win it last year under virtually the same criteria, he’s the no doubt winner this year.

He was clearly the best QB this year, 41 TDS and 4 INts and 1000 rushing yards , he’ll have to win a SB first before he wins another MVP based on the voter fatigue since they didn’t give him one this year
It was not voter fatigue. It was the fact that the team did not win enough in the regular season. I said this a month ago but when figuring out who will win MVP just take the QB playing the best on the top 2 seeds in either AFC or NFC. That will be your MVP. Its how it has been consistently been for years now and it is clearly how the voters are deciding things.

You called this back in late December. You said there’s no way Josh doesn’t win the MVP, no matter what Lamar does to finish the season. Props

No MVP or Offensive Player of the Year after one of the best offensive seasons we've ever seen. Sham. No other way to call it.
I mean OPOY seems to have now become "best non QB player on offense" award since MVP is now the QB award.

So the AP published the list of who everyone voted for. Let's just say, when you see who gets a vote, it really diminishes the award because a third of them shouldn't have a vote.... AT ALL. Dan Orlovsky gets a vote? Seriously? Known Ravens hater Mike Florio even picked Lamar!

So Jim Miller of NFL Sirius XM Radio was the one who voted Lamar 4th.

Fuck. Chris. Simms.

Basically has, yes. We have seen Patrick Mahomes, Peyton Manning, Cam Newton and Matt Ryan win it since the 2010s, and I personally thought nobody was better than Lamar this year. Just feels strange to walk away with no formal awards. Not that Allen wasn't a deserving finalist.

I saw someone say it best, the ones who get a vote but spew hot takes all voted for Allen. While the serious ones voted Lamar, I mean I'll take Brady, Dungy and Tedi Bruschi's opinions more seriously given their football credentials and accomplishments over Dan Orlovsky.
Yep. I saw the GOAT voted for Lamar. Fuck the media

I would have been content with a co-MVP lmao. Not this cockamamie shit

Whatever. Onto next season

I really hope that the NFL realizes that they've now made the MVP completely meaningless by not giving it to Lamar. Like why not just make up a new award for Allen the Most Pitied Player since that is what he clearly is

By the way you can see the importance of how winning overrides team stats by the fact that 17 of the ballots had Mahomes on it but nobody on here would say he played like even a top 5 QB this year let alone a top 5 MVP candidate. 3 3rd place votes, 8 4th place votes, and 6 5th place votes. The only argument for it was that they had the best record in the NFL.
