The Random Thought Thread

Pat does so much for us that often goes unnoticed that I wouldn’t begrudge him any accolades he might receive.

I think brian thomas jr shouldve made it over zay
I almost feel that way as well... It's crazy how thin the AFC WRs are than the NFC WRs. You can probably name 5-6 receivers who didn't make it in the NFC that would have a good case over Zay/Jeudy if they were in the AFC. You got Chase at the top and then nothing.

If Lamar gets MVP he should send flowers to Sarah Ellison. She is relentlessly campaigning for him and trying to persuade voters
If you want to listen to why Lamar is MVP, listen to Mina Kimes' podcast that came out most recently. Her and Domonique Foxworth breakdown the MVP race and give each Lamar, Allen, Burrow, and Saquon reasons why they are MVP. Lamar not only is on historic pace with base numbers, but the advanced analytics have him far and away the MVP even when accounting for supporting cast and situation.

Edit:

Here is the link to Spotify if anyone is interested in listening. I believe it's about 20 minutes in when they start the breakdown.

While I agree that I really want a Super Bowl win more than anything this year, giving the MVP to Allen is an insult to the award. The MVP needs to go to the best player that season not the second or third best player. We're talking about the MVP award not a pity prize
What annoys me is this notion that "MVP doesn't go to the player with the best stats". Most MVPs do as long as they have a winning record to back it up. They want to use last year as the MVP template this year when last year was the anomaly.

You had Allen 1 game away from missing the playoffs together with his poor play earlier in the season. If multiple teams didn't fall apart from injuries, the Bills likely missed the playoffs last year. Also, he was 5th in voting for that reason.

Purdy had the most loaded roster in the league and still had a chance for MVP until he imploded against Baltimore.

Dak's narrative was the team couldn't beat a team over .500 and had CeeDee having a year that Jamar Chase is having this year. He also didn't sit week 18 like Lamar so the stats look worse now than it did at the end of last season. Similar to what would happen if Allen won MVP and Lamar had 3-4 touchdowns at the end of this year.

McCaffery was the next logical choice but we know that it doesn't go to a running back. He also had 300 less yards than what Saquon has now.

It was a down year for the ENTIRE LEAGUE last year. It was a one-off, and you had to give it to Lamar who had the #4 offense with a rookie WR, Gus Edwards at running back, and no Mark Andrews. Had 10 of their 13 wins against .500 teams and set a record of being ahead 93% of the season.

Exactly, the narrative around Allen and Lamar ignores that Allen was fifth in voting and that he hurt his team in multiple games with bad turnovers last season. As far as I'm concerned, this season Allen should have been completely out of the MVP conversation when he shat the bed against us and the Texans.

Looking back now I still can't believe we shuffled 2 players and slid a new LT to start the playoffs in 12. And they had the nerve to improve

McKinnie played some regular season, but didn't start until the playoffs. He was pretty fat and lazy, but turned it on in January. Really flipped the O line performance.

Watched it on youtube yesterday. Another big determining point they mentioned is the strength of schedule (opposing D ratings).

Lamar - 5th hardest

From memory Allen is next - 19th.
