The only concern with Jones would have to be his age right? We definitely won't get prime Jones at 31 and he's coming off a season ending injury

Then again he had 19 sacks in 2019 wtf

Nothing a couple fifth round picks can change. I think this would require a bit more than that but at the end of the day, it does come down to cap and future cap. From a cap standpoint, we would acquire a one year $15.5M contract with an obvious extension to lower the cap. Mark Andrews is the only big name free agent for us next year.

If it’s between Mark and Jones I’m taking Mark all day. You can’t easily replicate the chemistry he has with Lamar and who knows if Jones will even be the same after the injury. If we can somehow fit both, then screw it. But I’ve been on the Houston bandwagon since before the draft
 
We need someone for sure cause right now we probably bottom 10 when it comes to front 7.
But then again our run defense

I agree but how can we have all three on the field? Houston and Owen are obviously pass rush specialists and Bowser is one of the best coverage OLB’s in the league. Where does he go?

At LB. he and queen as the 2 LBs, Oweh and Houston or whoever we add at edge.

That’s what I was thinking, but what about Fort? Lol.. I like your idea, I’m just not savvy with defensive formations

i dont think it can/would be ZDS just because if he's going somewhere it's for a bigger deal than the one he's got right now (because 1) he's become a top player at his position and 2) he just fired his agent for the last deal restructure they did)

also lamar's essentially going to be signed next year too - he's not technically a free agent but no way we let him play year 5 without a longterm deal done

we frequently have more than 2 OLBs on the field in 2nd and 3rd down situations - we often lined up bowser in the middle of the defence to rush/stunt or drop from the line into coverage

likewise you can have someone like oweh or pernell or even houston line up on the interior

it's a frequent package we run where we sometimes dont have any DL on the field in some long down and distance situations so getting 3 guys on feels super easy lol

we rotate personnel a ton - last year we frequently had situations with bowser, judon, ngakoue and campbell (obviously not true edge in the same way necessarily) all on the field at once - or mcphee in there too...

we're often only playing 1 LB in those passing situations and subbing in for dime and potentially taking out a LB but also maybe a DL (or even 2) - i expect queen to take more and more of the LB snaps (where he was already the leader)

we've got a very versatile front 7 and wink's really great at substituting and creating packages to get good players on the field (situationally)

That’s very true lol. I never thought he was on the table anyway, I do think Jones is though
