The Random Thought Thread

If you guys have reddit, the Seahawks subreddit group is blowing up. Apparently someone with “insiders” info is saying they just traded for Myles Garrett.

You just beat me to it as I was finishing my post about it. Apparently this person made it on Seattle SPORTS RADIO with this rumor, which says a lot about Seattle Sports Radio. They also claim that Garrett is being traded for LB KJ Wright, a 2nd Round Pick & 7th Round Pick, which is crazy. That would mean BOB took over the Browns and is actively destroying two franchises at the same time.

Apparently this reddit user called OL Justin Britt & DJ Fluker being cut BEFORE those moves actually happened. So we'll see what happens.

That seems like a bad move. I’ll take Garrett over oft-injured clowney all day. Good for the AFC North if true

if this happens, i think its largely because it takes LBs to defend this ravens offense, cinci geared up for us, and if this happens then cleveland is sacrificing pass rush to gear up for us.

and if thats the case, then lamar just makes another natural step in his progression as a passer and bam, chess match won because they now need pass rush to stop us lol.

Reddit Mods have now removed the post in regards to the rumored trade. I also looked at the Browns Board and there was no discussion about this despite it taking off on social media.

Thats for sure Lamar's decision making is phenomenal - i think he's the best QB in the league in that regard. I think I haven't seen one INT where it was a bad read or a dumb decision in general. Most of his INTS came off tipped balls or drops. He also had the least amount of turnover worthy plays and had the highest grade under pressure according to PFF.
thats what im saying, its fair to say watson has a more accurate arm, its not fair to say hes a better passer, lamar has proven himself well beyond a reasonable doubt to be an elite low volume passer(meaning he can and will dominate as a qb with low volume and win games and post numbers despite low attempts), watson has not, watson makes plays and puts up numbers but also does so with high volume and the most explosive and reliable set of weapons(except for maybe the chiefs).

were talking about 2 spectacular modern qbs here, but as far as intangibles go lamar is quite clearly the better option.

absolutely no way any of those rumours are true - browns dont need to get rid of garrett to get clowney - they have the most cap space in the league

and a 2nd round pick isnt going to do it

people throw around the term generational talent to describe edge rushers seemingly every year - but myles garrett is the legit definition of a generational talent as an athletic freak prospect who's performed at a high level in the pros - it would take multiple 1st round picks and maybe players on top to get him

Im sorry but to be a generational talent you at least have to be the best at your position in the NFL and I do not see how Garrett is the best or even top 3. I do not even think he is the best in the division, but right now I would take TJ Watt over him as well as both Bosa's and if I sat down and thought about there are probably 1-2 and if you are not the best at your position you cannot really be a generational talent.

Aaron Donald is a generational talent. JJ Watt was a generational talent (still is when healthy). A generational talent has to have a gap between themselves and everyone else. Julio Jones, Michael Thomas, and DeAndre Hopkins are all amazing but that there are 3 of them sort of takes away from the word generational when the generation has 3 of them.

when im talking about generational talent in those terms i mean as a draft prospect - your point is well made with regards to him not being number 1 in the NFL right now

but honestly i think he's that gifted that he will at some point be the best in the NFL

but he's an athletic freak of nature

I'm not 100% sure about Ben Powers as a pulling guard - he's not a fluid mover but tbf he looks no less fluid than bozeman did and he managed to be pretty effective as a puller (part of it's down to vision and processing on the move as much as it is a feat of athleticism)

but if we have a comfort level with Powers as a puller i dont see why he couldnt be a candidate for that LG spot

part of me thinks that this is going to be the week 1 starting OL:

Stanley, Powers, Bozeman, Fluker, Orlando

Larry Warford reportedly wants 7 million a year, we have roughly 8 million and EDC said last week if more cap opened up he would target oline or pass rush.

Yeah it was fake, it was a salty Packers fan.

Jacob breeland is getting some buz by people around here and the media but i've watched him enough and i don't think he's an NFL player.
Probably out of the league in a year or two.

I forgot to ask you about Crawford. Do you know more about him? His PFF report and grades are very intriguing.

What if boykin have a breakout year? Steve smith believes in him. with lamar work ethic and seeing him make that big from year to year, should atleast rub off on some of our players..

I know about as much as you do. I Just came aross it and thought it was rather impressive ( highest graded run stopper).
