The Random Thought Thread

I hope Carolina steals the win today. Not that I think we're going to win the division but I still hope we keep it competitive. I don't want Pitt to rest their players week 17.

I'm not gonna lie- finding the motivation is hard because it takes hours to pour over it all and hours to write up. It's daunting to start, but once I start, it's like I just hit a roll.

That's not a knock, if I knew Mark Andrews would be this good I probably would have taken Ridley as well. We're dying for skill position players right now and I know Hurst counts as one but we need productive skill position players. I think Ridley would be the best WR on this team if we had him. Ridley and Brown would be filthy as a duo.

It's not the first time I heard the "what if the Ravens got Bell" speculation. No thanks because I'm not overpaying for a RB especially when we got other needs like G, C, pass-rusher, and possibly S this offseason.
 
This is just random, but if we went back to the beginning of this season and switched Flacco for Philip Rivers, where do you think both of these teams would be?
 
If you still have play hope (and I will unless we lose to cincy, we are 3-14 in October over the last few years, 2016 and 17 we had amazing second half, we play 3 of the worst teams in the NFL, all in Baltimore. I think 9-7 might do it)
But anyway, we have to root for the Steelers. They are going to win the division I don't have a doubt on that. We need them to help knock the jags out of wild card contention. The steelers winning will put them in contention for a top seed which makes it more likely for them to play in week 17, a game we need cincy to lose.

We have played 3 elite Super Bowl contenders in the last 3 weeks in a month where we have sucked. We grinded it against the Saints but imo they are the best team in the NFL. The Steelers are the best team in the NFL when they are hot, which they are. We came out flat against the panthers. We still have an incredibly talented roster.

My money is on this team looking amazing and winning every game except kc, and then we lose at home against the browns in week 17 on a 4th and goal from the 12 where Baker Mayfield stretches across the goal line. It will then be the NFL commercial for the next year.

I was thinking about this the other day actually and I do think it is the same. You could argue that we beat the Browns with Rivers but at the same time there is no way Philip Rivers wins in Hienz field he never does.

Not just rivers but any non elite QB (We are taking Cam, Ryan, Stafford, Rivers, etc), I don't think our record is any different honestly.
The games Joe has played like shit the rest of the game did too.
Joe lead an incredible comeback against Cincy it was just a bit short. He didn't allow AJ to catch 3 tds. He played turnover free and did everything we needed to beat the Saints. He wasn't the one who couldn't tackle Cam Newton. He wasn't the one that let the Steelers go 10/16 on 3rd down and ran the same blitz with no middle coverage in the late forth TWICE. That game is not closer if Flacco hits Lamar in the end zone (he should have theres no excuse for that) The steelers would have just scored more there is nothing that makes me think we could stop them, much let alone protect any qb back there. Joe played like shit in the last 2 games no question. But that score vs the Steelers is completely misleading to how incredibly awful we were. The shitburgh gameplay was long drives not the quick scoring we all know they can do. They didn't want a shootout and they got that.

I'm not saying Flacco isn't a problem, he has been in years past and he isn't playing incredible anymore. I just don't think our record is any different than it is now.

I’m not sure we’re the same standing but I agree that Joe Flacco isn’t the only problem on this team. Our defense has issues like not coming off the field on 3rd down or not finding ways to get pass rush sacks but relying on coverage sacks. To be fair to Joe, he hasn’t had a run game to work with and he has had a lot of drops if memory serves me right. The issue with Joe is just the constant same mistakes and I think people are just tired of it. I know I am.

Nothing special really. Maybe 1 more win but I don’t think it means we’re going anywhere because top to bottom this team isn’t good. We’re not close to the Chargers in terms of talent at skill position.

I’ve seen this team do things that would surprise you so I won’t count them out there. Hell maybe we go and beat LAC, KC and ATL but lose to CLE and OAK lol. That wouldn’t surprise me in the least
