The Random Thought Thread

CTE is the 800 pound gorilla in the room for the NFL and the owners know it.
Well they galvanized rather quickly on the Anthem issue because it directly affects their bottom line. As for CTE the fans aren't directly affected and won't stop showing up for games because a few players suffered traumatic lives with CTE. They're not as concerned because it doesn't hurt their bottom line today. But, the truth is the CTE issue is like a guillotine hanging over the NFL.

What do you want them to do cancel the NFL. Give me a fucking break. They’re doing plenty.
Yeah seriously. The only way to say solve this problem entirely is to disband the nfl. Even with the awareness this is a money making machine and families will watch and send their kids to play.

Trying and succeeding are two very different things.
you cant eliminate it. eliminate the CTE risk factor by ending football entirely, theres no 2 ways about it.

It's their fault. They knew and tried to hide the info. The league is only doing this now to try and save face.
and at this point, players are still signing up, and are better than ever and are rewarded more and more handsomely every year. the nfl can save face all they want but these players know the risks and are still glad to play. people sign up to go overseas and get in fucking close quarters firefights for pennies and some free college(hopefully they survive with the brain capacity to use it), id say NFL players are getting it pretty good.

i will gladly take a risk at getting CTE for guranteed millions of dollars. I will take a chance at dying also for sure. Lets be real here most of us would die in order to feed our family or for them to live a better life.

Obviously Cte isn’t a good thing, but getting rid of it would be much, much, worse for the players than a risk of brain damage. The game provides economic output and stimulation on a massive scale for 32 cities (jobs in hotels restaurants too) and strictly players, I’d say Atleast 1/3 of these guys would be facing poverty if it weren’t the Nfl. It’s either risk Cte with fame and money or never leave home and die in poverty. The game also teaches discipline and keeps kids out of trouble. As much as some of the rule changes annoy me, I know it’s for the greater good. I still say just take off the face makes lol you see how hockey players hit

What good is money if my brain isnt on strait enough to enjoy it?

Lol. Because the only thing money is good for is happiness. Give me a fucking break. Not like most of these guys have families to support or can give to charity.

Any NFL player can give to charity so they do not have to be the one doing it and don't most of these guys would have a college degree so making money to feed family would not be a problem.

If it even were a problem they could take the rookie deal then retire.

Investing for generational wealth that will benefit your family for the next century? Not all NFL players buy ferraris and F650s and strippers and bottle service every weekend, some are in it to lift their entire families and sometimes communities.

Hey, who's to say that they can't take their entire family to the strip club?

No but seriously... Are there people that think CTE is a good thing or what? There's just no real debate, just facts.

I don't think anyone is trying to debate that CTE is a good thing; just that in order to eliminate it from the NFL, you would pretty much have to disband the NFL, as it currently is. Unless you change all the rules and turn the game into "flag football" then there's always going to be a risk of CTE.
