WR/RB Thread

You don’t think we’ll have a top ten pick?

That seems highly unlikely to get a top 10 pick. In the AFC teams that are going to finish worse without question are the Colts, Browns, Bengals, (pick 1 in the AFC West probably chargers), Jets (they are not good they look okay but they are not good and will fall off), Bucs, 49ers, Giants, Cardinals, Bears. Those 10 teams are just going to win less games then the Ravens do even if they finish 6-10 those teams are not getting to 6. I could probably name 3-4 teams that will be in that 6-10 7-9 range that I also think will pick higher than Ravens so worst case the draft pick you are looking at is a mid teen first round pick. Analyze based on that.

Seems about the range we can get Ridley at. I just hope the Browns don’t select Barkley.

It's frustrating watching other teams run their offense and get WR's open. I am watching the Redskins/Cowboys game and the playcalling/designs of these plays get guys OPEN above and beyond what they can normally do

players that you cut need to be replaced and preferable by players of similar or better talent.
you spend everything on 1 receiver, you will be downgrading on every other position.

you are getting weaker and not stronger lol.

we are not a receiver away from a top 5 passing game.....

rather upgrade the o-line tbh.

I said draft 2-3 Oline players. But take advantage of the WRs hitting the market that can play without being coached up. I place Oline as NO.1 priority. But ask cowboys fans. I don't care how good your line is. You need playmakers to be an elite offense. Cuts and retreads aren't gonna do it. You need WRs that are worth making better. Perriman is garbage. Maclin will be 30-31 next year and will be 4 yrs removed from his best year.Wallace is a one trick pony on wrong side of 30. This is a great WR market. If the front office has a friggin clue how to scout WR skills. Then there is absolutely no excuses to go with cut aging retreads at WR!! I agree Oline is priority. But that doesn't mean to keep going with castaway retreads at WR. As opposed to a WR whose best play is yet to come.

Seems to me that we're like the only team that can't get guys open like that. I really hope Marty gets fired because I didn't even want him back after last season.

I am doing and was thinking the same thing bro! And, their WR's are catching all types of passes and making plays.

I hope Ozzie at least made one phone call to Indy to find out how much their asking price is for TY Hilton. It doesn't hurt to inquire about a player but as long as the cost isn't too much, would like to see us make an offer for him.

I was just going to post this, but Hilton apparently won’t negotiate his contract

wrs whose best is yet to come are probably the most expensive in FA besides franchise QBs and maybe pass rushers.

ravens have projected less then 10 mil cap space even when considering the cap going up again.
ravens have 49 players under contract for next season.

Wallace, Jensen,Watson,Urban and Hurst are starters who will be UFA.
Gilmore and Whalen are possible UFA to resign.

Mayle, Camp and Matthews are RFA and need to be tendered.

Ownusar , Collins and Skura are ERFA and also need to be tendered by the team but cant sign anywhere else.

Resigning Mosley long term is the best way to get some cap back.
Carr, woodhead and Howard are about the only guys worth cutting at this point.
These moves could save about 12 mil.

So with less then 10 mil you need to save about half for the draft.
Leave about 5 mil along with the 12 mil you just saved
Give out tenders.
Resign at least Jensen.

forgive my ignorance but where exactly do you see this team get the cap to go out in FA and compete with other teams to sign 1 of these WRs who best play is yet to come?

Those guys you mentioned will carry hits higher then 5 mil at least.
Some will get resigned by their team leaving less to hit the market.

There are only 4 teams with less cap then the ravens and about half the league has 3 times as much cap as the ravens.....

Well it's safe to say jimmy likely gets extended saving a big chunk also, we strapped ourselves for next year when we restructured him and I doubt that was done without a future plan

jimmy has 2 years left though and will be 31 when his contract ends.

they could extend him but its only going to push the issues further down the line.

his bonus alone already is around is 6,6 mil per season.
adding 1 or 2 years with a new bonus wont lower it much if any.

his salary could go down from 9 mil but even if he settles with just 3 mil , he will have a cap hit around 10 mil.
so we could save around 5 to 6 mil short term.

looking at the season he is having , i doubt we can lowball him lol

WOw, did you see this rookie WR for Pittsburgh take it 95 yards last night? Why aren't we getting this type of receiver here in Baltimore?

we have those receivers.

its simply a lack of excecution and a scheme that does not take advantage of them.

the west coast offense is a poor fit to the players we have and their strengths.

dumbest decision this team made and its what has kept us back offensively.

PS: steelers run same type of scheme as the pats.

Yeah, Ju Ju is a beast and only 20!. Bottom of the second round find for the steelers.

Hopefully the Ravens find the answer to your question. Maybe draft WRs with sure hands, not track stars?

You may actually be surprised by how other fans of other NFl teams say the exact samething about their team offense.

I feel like every catch this season there has been a defender either draped or 2 yards within the wideout. Makes me miss Pitta. Terrible after the catch and not going to win games by himself but he found soft spots in zones.... Steve could do that every now and then. Still waiting for someone to step up and do the same.

I wanted juju, but thought he’d be available in the third.
