WR/RB Thread

I don't think we need a top tier RB that badly. We just need a good o-line, and a back that fits our running scheme really well. Like what we had during the Kubiak year. Though I definitely wouldn't mind grabbing Gaskin or Snell if we can move up for them in the 3rd.

Snell would be pretty nice I think

I think we do need that guy. Granted, Elliott shows you can’t do much unless the OL blocks and I’ll always agree OL should usually come first, I do think we need a top shelf RB and if you can get him then get him even if it’s before an OL talent unless that OL is a talent like Nelson or something.
Think y’all are riding the gus bus a little too hard right now
How? Nobody said he should replace Collins or anything only that we like him and are excited for him. I even said it’s only been like part of one game so that’s a small sample size.
I don’t see a single person saying Gus is some great running back.
Yeah exactly.

The only difference I saw between Gus and Collins was Gus didn't get hit in the backfield and had actual holes to run through which is probably coincidence with such a small sample since Collins had a few holes and took big advantage each time.

This. Collins is still an explosive slasher and has to constantly make something out of nothing. Gus just had a few power runs right up the guy for some decent yardage

I’m seeing things along the line of: looks like we finally found that power back we’ve been missing. And I just think it’s premature to say this, excitement about him looking solid for a game is one thing but there are a select few posts that are a little optimistic

When I heard Collins added some weight (even though they said it was muscle) that concerned me back in the offseason. I feel like watching him on tape he isn't as explosive as he was last year and isn't breaking as many tackles as last year. That has some to do with the o-line being terrible at creating holes and him not getting fast enough to be able to run over some of these defenders. I really hope this team decides to shake around that o-line during the bye week because as good as they are in pass protection, this team needs a run game to complete the offense. If the Ravens get into the playoffs they won't be able to last checking down to Allen, Snead, and Crabtree. Teams already are bottling up the deep passing game which worries me and I still believe the team needs to take more shots even if they are covered. Chris Moore needs to step up and be that other deep threat. Flacco was drafted into this league because of his big arm that opens up more field for an offense, but when the team abandons the deep game, the team gets bottled up because Flacco wasn't drafted for his accuracy. I still don't believe how this team doesn't understand this principle after this many years with Flacco. If they have consistent deep threats opening up the field nothing can stop the Ravens offense. I would almost say at this point that the deep ball game is more important than the team getting the run game going. Open the middle of the field for Snead, Crab, Buck, or the millions of tight ends.

Really? Who said that? I mean maybe but he’s got to stack games. That’s lofty praise even if he ran for like 200 yards lol.

You mean to pick Harris in the first round?
Yes. I know a pro bowl RB when I see one. He's one, and most certainly worth it. He's the best RB prospect Bama has put into the pros since Eddie Lacy. He makes great cuts in the open field, is explosive, got good hands, good pass protector, good long speed, agility, good receiver out of the backfield, good vision, good power. He's Ray Rice reincarnate but he's taller(and not a piece of shit human being). Sure, Rice was a second round pick, but if you can get that in the first round it’s a great pick.

RB is not worth 1st round pick, unless it's Barkley calibre.
Definitely not in a draft in which we don't have 2nd rounder.

That’s a weak argument. If you have a potential pro bowler it’d be so much more confident for you to be able to invoke a fifth year option if totally necessary. Especially if doing this more or less can complete the offense. Especially one who fits like a glove and who might be the missing piece. This isn’t the Seahawks taking Penny, this guy is that talented. I’d obviously prefer to go back in the second round to take him and obtain more capital but if we are picking in the postseason we are in win now mode, and RB is the main short term weakness on the team.

i mean let's be honest - unless this team implodes at this point and we end up super high in the draft we're gonna be trading down and likely even out of the 1st round entirely

A pro bowl RB isn't special enough to use a first on especially when you don't have the OLine to make him look it.

If you are spending a 1st on a RB it better be an AP or Barkley who can succeed in spite on their OLine (pretty much only RBs of last 15 years who could do that). Otherwise fix the OLine and make your average RB into a Pro Bowl one.

Oh gee if only we had the personnel to fix this oline and all of them are under contract next season including three current depth guys with starter upside long term at positions of need.

Yeah spoilers I don’t think we address the oline as heavily as everyone else does.

Id hate that but whatever

There is not a good center on the roster; there is not a decent LG on the roster and Yanda is starting to fall off (not much but falls happen in a hurry). The interior of the OLine is currently in shambles and needs at least 2 picks in the draft like what happened to fix fhe TE spot.

Drafting a S to replace Weddle would be nice, so is a RB, or a 3 down OLB (man I hate the Ravens not having a 2nd) but for now the OLine is everything.
