The General Front 7 Thread

i dont know if he played bad but andy benoit was making these statements in the offseason before training camp which i find interesting if brandon williams wasnt playing well in the 3tech spot at the end of the season - obviously there was something on film that suggested he either was already or would become a wrecking ball at the 3tech
I totally agree with this statement.

brown was a great prospect as an outside 4-3 OLB not an ILB in the 3-4.

also dont forget that after a decent rookie season he was going to start until the ravens decided to grab mosley and bring in a stud like daryl smith.

not everyone has the mental make up to deal with that.

btw i dont think there is any shame in not being able to beat out mosley and smith though.

i think the problem in terms of being beat out was that he was also beat out by mclellan and orr (a udfa at the time) for playing time

I'm not sure what makes our run d so bad but we need a new WLB. If we don't draft one with the insane class coming up, I'll be extremely pissed

Setting the edge opposite Suggs has been a major weak point in the defense and the run defense on the 2nd and 3rd levels. I’d rather go offense in the initial rounds, but we may go this route as well.

Everyone in their right mind saw Arthur brown as an excellent prospect, because he was. He just didn't give a shit about football enough to progress, which is probably a hard thing to determine when you're interviewing a guy to add to your football team lol
Everybody wanted brown. Absolutely everyone. If you find someone that says they didnt you've found yourself a liar

Really lol, when the sports world was hyping manti two the ravens boards were ALL IN on Arthur brown. We were wrong lol
I remember one or two (can't recall who exactly) opposed to drafting Arthur Brown, citing specifically his inability to get off blocks.

I wasn't one of them. Neither was Ozzy.

to be honest even sizz hasnt been as good as we expect on runs to his side

Yeah, I didn’t like him as a prospect either.

the top end talent in that 2013 draft was pretty abysmal tbh - of course we could have got playmakers but the hit rate on picks in that draft is so much lower than in other drafts its crazy - not as many superstars either

I hope they give up on Correa as a LB. He's a rusher. The whole experiment was idiotic from the beginning. They needed a pass rusher last season. Then they chose to convert one of the only pass rushers we had last season. If they drafted Correa to be a LB why wouldn't you take M.Jack? This process doesn't happen over night. It takes at least a season. McClellan and in hindsight Orr could both play WLB.

Kaufusi is 26 and he's clearly not strong enough. Just cut him. But wait we need him on the FG block unit xd

Henry saw 11 snaps. Why did they bench him again? He's the best interior rusher, we couldn't even stop the rush anyway. I hate it when they don't play the best 11 players.

you say that but hes never shown any ability to rush the passer at the pro level (and tbh wasnt that great at it at college either) i think he was at best a 4-3 olb and i dont think he was a good enough prospect to eschew scheme and we dont run the 4-3

i genuinely think the depth on our dline is being severely misused - whats the point in having such great depth if you dont rotate in the linemen - if you keep them fresh they will dominate more and keep the oline guessing and tired both physically and mentally but by just leaving your non-starters off the field and not rotating in for rotational/situational purposes you lose the value of all the depth

an example of how it could work well is in how weve been using marlon humphrey to spell jimmy and brandon on the outside - they hold up til the end of the game and never look tired because we rotate in the great depth talent
