Welcome to Baltimore: Olaivavega Ioane

Stanley, Vinson
Simpson, Vorhees
Starter, Bullock/Gwynn
Ioane, Jones
Rosengarten, ?

Just posted it in the offseason thread but someone who is somewhat plugged into the organization said Emory Jones is working at center this offseason.

That would be interesting…

Stanley, Vinson
Simpson, Vorhees
Jones, Bullock/Pinter
Ioane, Gwynn

Call me crazy but I still have faith in Bullock winning the job unless there’s a vet out there. Idk how to feel going into the season with two rookies on the iOL
Not sure. I think the OL can be a lot better with Vega plus Ledford. If we can get a real C that would be really great too. Everyone has to stay healthy because I don't want to see Vorhees ever again

Ooooh I really dont like the sound of that hahaha

I would say, the fact that Bain was available at 14 at all speaks to not just how we felt about him, but how a good portion of the league did. Mentioned it in the thread last night but they were not at all surprised to see him still on the board when they were up. They expected it.
It can’t just be the arm length right? That can’t be the only thing pushing him down

I think it's just reflective of this class at the top more so than anything. I heard that the Ravens had very few "elites" on their board and it seems like other teams thought similarly. And at that point, it just becomes a preference thing.

I personally had Bain in my top 10 but I also wasn't in love with him as a prospect. And I don't want to make it seem like the Ravens didn't like Bain, because they did. They just had other guys higher, but they absolutely would have taken him had those other guys been gone.

I'm just glad Vega was there because I wouldn't have been happy with Sadiq. I'm good with Vega.

Bain is a guy I really liked, and I would have taken him over Vega. That said, I get why we did not. FWIW, but Bain did not have the best game against Proctor at LT. Don't get me wrong, everyone loses now and then, but I think that has always been in my mind and I have said it many times since I saw that game closely. Go back and watch that match-up, you will see. I don't think Proctor is a great T prospect, I see him as more of a G, and I suspect his best spot is G. So in that regard, I kinda feel it speaks about Bain, too, and reflects some on him

But you can't understate how effective Bain was in the Playoffs. It was very impressive.

going to be a real test of whether the league is right to index so heavily on a guy missing measurable benchmarks over awesome tape

I'm low key shocked they didn't pounce on him. But I don't believe it was pressure to go OLine, so they really did have Ioane ahead of Bain because if the arms.

i think that post by dan olsen was more just indicative that they always have guys who might not start cross-training at C - typically that's actually been a sign that a guy isn't likely to be the starter

jones doesnt have the typical body type you'd expect from a C for sure

for what it's worth, he was on my board as an OT rather than an interior guy last year (not saying he cant translate inside)

idk of the league is right but going up against anyone that has long arms vs your short arms or even short in height automatically puts the shorter side at an disadvantage.. however, bain didnt have a problem with it going up against great talent in college. If bain isnt the one to prove them wrong, its likely not gonna happen any time soon

Bain compensated by playing very low, taking low angles of inclination to leverage himself, which helped him with high tackles or tackles with longer arms. A well-executed tackle would put him in trouble; the rest would suffer

Bain to me screamed a player who benefitted from a weak class, but would normally be a late first round guy. If he were in last year's class, he wouldn't have been in contention to be the second pass rusher off the board by a mile.

Ever since our 2024 loss to the eagles I’ve been all in on building the OL, that game really stuck with me and it seems like the pass protection has been on a spiral since then

THIS. I knew even if we made SB in 24 we were fighting an uphill battle against the Eagles front. Would have had to pull magic out our ass for that win.

Feel much less worried now if we're forced to start a rookie center with the current group.
