So you guys didn't think he was a kook? I just saw it that way.

When the Raiders shut him down and he came back like he was ready to go, that seemed strong and f-off to me. I just didn't like the drama of it either way and it left me with a bad impression of him. Then all the partying and showboating... idk. I just felt like we might be signing a guy that never intended on staying - and then the comments like "I'm always a Raider at heart..." or whatever they were... It just didn't seem like e was invested in US.

i was glad they cancelled him and I'm glad we pivoted and got what we got.
Are you talking about him saying he's always a Raider after he was traded here before we cancelled the deal, or something he said after we cancelled the deal?

If he said it after we cancelled, I'd have expected him to say nothing else since he would be returning to LAV.

No, he said it after the trade was announced and before we cancelled.

Ah, well, then I’m not sure. I would still not put a ton into it unless it was egregious. I obviously don’t even know or remember it at this point but he probably really did love the team a lot since that’s who gave him a chance. I’d hope Lamar would say the same thing if that ever happened. With that said, a lot of it does come down to tone. As my wife likes to remind me, it’s not what you say but how you say it

I wouldn’t put any stock into that, that’s just showing love to the fanbase. IF everything worked out, he woulda forgot all about that poverty franchise by October at the latest
And I understand both of these too. It was the tone and timing that was bothersome to me, but it was also the whole situation prior to this. The Raiders sat him down (injury) and then he balked at it in a "one upsmanship" manner by playing basketball and seeming to try to show up the team he was so devoted to. That was before we signed him and probably about the time they (Raiders) had simply had enough. Maybe they can mend the fence, but I just thought he came across poorly in the whole mess - mostly of his own creation. I don't know that that had any weight in us failing him, but I'm glad we punted on that one.

Interesting that both the WRs we drafted were as EDC dubbed them "step brothers"
guys who might have been somewhat overshadowed in the draft process by other more high-profile WRs on their college teams

for Ja'Kobi Lane, it was Makai Lemon
for Elijah Sarratt, it was Omar Cooper Jr
