I mean I said Zion reminded me of Crosby lol. I think I was the first person to say that. His attitude and TFL just give me such Crosby vibes
Okay so I’m not crazy lol. There’s a distinct trait that you don’t see everywhere, it’s hard to quantify and it’s some combination of motor, slippery, and finishing, where dude is able to keep firing downhill and not lose stride while slipping off the sides of blockers and make the tackle using crazy reach and flexibility, just always closing in on the ball even with blockers in the way, and a final lunge to finish the tackle/sack in a way that not everyone can.

I cant till he get his first sack or tfl lol..

This is a better way of putting it. Seems that the last power profile edge we drafted high was Courtney upshaw, since then it’s been Correa, bowser, Isaac, green. We did take Ferguson(RIP) but he was much more a DL profile than an edge and he had no bend.

Green has a good bit of power to his skill set so maybe the course correction began last year.

A guy who Zion reminds me of a little bit that is never mentioned, is maxx Crosby, there’s a certain relentless downhill and slippery way that he navigates the front that draws a comparison for me, along with the strong finish ability.

Hold up. I said the same shit on Saturday morning and didn’t know anyone else had said it. I described it as violence and motor but you described something I saw too. He has the same ability as Maxx to just be chasing the Qb or ball carrier while somehow avoiding, slipping, and bouncing off blockers without losing steam.

It's like he always knows where is QB or RB going

The kid is VIOLENT.

As the Suggs guy, I’ve been dying for a guy who can be a force like he was

We think the draft was approached much differently then we have in the past. EDC wanted to hoard picks but Minter was pressing for Vega. The double dip in receiver seems to have us in a bit of tizzy because Jackson doesn't throw a certain ball that we think will be required for a receiver like Lane

I sound like AI
I don't have an issue with that. He has shown he can absolutely do it with Dhop, but didn't get a chance to do it often because he wasn't used nearly as much as he should have. @Ice Bowl

I think the draft was good (B+/A-) level. I think we found value throughout the draft and we focused on physicality throughout.

Yup, I said it after we drafted him in the “Welcome to Baltimore, Zion Young” thread.
I like his alpha dog attitude. He has that Maxx Crosby swagger on the field. I love this pick. He isn't terrible at athleticism, but he is a little bit limited. But this man can play the run and can pursue the QB like a mad man kinda like Maxx. He's not the same guy, as Maxx tested better, but I can see this guy becoming special.
But hey, it’s not about who said it first as much as we all see the same potential. I think we’re all even saying the same thing just in different ways.

Now I will say that Maxx tested quite a bit better than Young with a bit more explosion, but watching Young reminds me so much of Maxx Crosby. If Young becomes even remotely as good as Crosby this was a huge win.

Young had a 1.72 10-yard split, which measures the bend and agility needed of an EDGE whereas Maxx had a 1.62, which is a huge difference. Crosby had a great vertical too at 36 whereas Young had 31.

I read all of that. I'm just grateful that the ginger is out and Zion is in. That ginger is crazy in a bad way.

How so? Other than the knee, like what’s the crazy in a bad way?
Idk, he seems to have a mouth that gets him in hot water. Whatever was going on behind the scenes with the Raiders escalated pretty quickly. Maybe it was a two way street, but getting traded to us and still claiming to be a Raider at heart seemed a douchy move... he just didn't sit right with me.

Nah, not that part, just the injury. Avoided a huge amount of anxiety, waiting on the news he's finally able to practice, possibly not ready for the training camp, etc. All while not enjoying day 1 of the draft this and next year, without Vega on the Oline... It would have been really miserable preseason.

So you guys didn't think he was a kook? I just saw it that way.

When the Raiders shut him down and he came back like he was ready to go, that seemed strong and f-off to me. I just didn't like the drama of it either way and it left me with a bad impression of him. Then all the partying and showboating... idk. I just felt like we might be signing a guy that never intended on staying - and then the comments like "I'm always a Raider at heart..." or whatever they were... It just didn't seem like e was invested in US.

i was glad they cancelled him and I'm glad we pivoted and got what we got.
