I can't put a percentage on it, but there is a certain subset of guys they're interested in going up to get if they get close enough and the return makes sense.

I think they'd always love to move back but I don't know that they're expecting a lot of teams to come calling. They know they're on the edge of the talent drop off.
I really hope we move up.. i think its likely our best choice. That or trade the pick

Going from 14 to 8 costs more than a 3rd but less than a 2nd so probably have to get their 3rd back after trading 1 and 2 (with some late rounds mixed around to even it out).
Not that simple. Those draft trade value charts are just baselines. The real value is determined in real time.
Even if you get some capital back, you'd basically have one pick in the top 80. Not ideal on a team with a lot of holes.

I think if you went back and look at a lot of historical first round trades, many of them overpaid compared to the largely arbitrary "draft trade value charts".

Welp, I didn't think I'd get a name this year. And I just got a name. I won't post it even in a spoiler tag to avoid the temptation, but the DMs are open for those that want to know what I'm hearing.

You know that saying that to people with anxiety is a bit of a health issue, right? haha
Just one question: offensive or defensive?

I swear that was absolute bullshit what those insiders were doing. Spoils the entire experience. What makes the NFL Draft special is the mystery leading up to each pick. If this keeps up, I might have to just mute it on the TV until Goodell speaks on the podium.

i get it when they're building up to a pick that hasn't been submitted - but once the pick is in, we shouldnt be talking to insiders about what it's going to be

talk to them about the process afterwards, and they can tip picks on twitter

My hope for this draft is that we don't pick anyone who doesn't play on the lines until at least Day 3, preferrably not until R5.
We've neglected the trenches for too long and no amount of DBs, WRs or TEs is going to cover for that weakness

bad DL class
deep IOL class, super top-heavy OT class - probably no one i'd be excited about at 14 but would accept Ioane or Mauigoa
deep EDGE class - should be great options on day 2

it's a really good WR, DB and TE class

would be surprised if WR isn't BPA at some point in the first 3 rounds
would be surprised if multiple TEs aren't BPA at various points late day 2 and throughout day 3

Kinda sorta and it happened in 2024 as well. Like Schefter would say this [insert team] is most likely looking at draft a specific position and mention a specific name or two and BAM it would happen. No curveball, nothing. Back in 2024, when the Falcons made their decision to select Penix Jr., Schefter mentioned that they were looking at a QB for the future like right before the selection occurred.

Like bro, you couldn't wait until after the selection was made to explain their reasoning?

rapsheet was brought onto NFL Network and basically said "watch out for penix here" before the falcons picked lol
so subtle guys, well done

James Proche was probably the last late round guy that I really got got on. "He's just under appreciated because he went to SMU. The production was insane. He doesn't drop a ball, he has glue for hands". Guy came here and struggled to even catch balls in practice

Daelin Hayes was the guy for me

was so sure he was going to be the next day 3 EDGE in the pipeline that would develop into a real starter and earn us a comp pick back after 4 years

think he played 2 snaps, got injured and then we never saw him play again

1 game, 4 snaps, and never saw an NFL field again.

Literally just looked this up the other day because I saw his name and was curious what he was up to. Usually those types of guys pop up in the spring leagues or the CFL but his career literally just ended.

With the McCoy medical situation, it now really feels like we need one name to go before 14 for me to feel good about what we get.

Mendoza, Love, Tate, Tyson, Mauigoa, Ioane, Fano, Bain, Bailey, Reese, Styles, Delane, Downs

I wouldn't be thrilled with Styles just based on it not moving the needle as much as I like but he's a damn good player and if he's what's there and we can't move down, so be it.

But it really feels like we need one more guy not named above to go for us to get some of the premium talent.

If not, there are still guys I like - Concepcion, Sadiq, Proctor, Freeling, Mesidor, Thieneman - that I'd be okay with us taking if that's what we had to do, but they just feel like they don't pack quite the same punch.

For me there's 11 guys i'd probably be pretty happy with if we got them at 14 (assuming mccoy isn't an option)
Bain, Love, Delane, Styles, Reese, Concepcion, Tyson, Tate, Downs, Ioane, Mauigoa

we should be guaranteed to get one of those 11 as long as Mendoza, Bailey and Fano go ahead of us (or a surprise) - but the next question would be whether the ravens would actually take Concepcion

Styles for me would be a great get regardless of the positional value - it's the kind of draft where you can't really be picky on positions if you want a high-end talent - but reading the tea leaves, seems like he's not getting out of the top 7

There are not a lot of holes though. There are only 2 holes: a second pass rusher and IOL. Those are the only holes. There are areas to add depth but that is what late round picks are for and you can find good IOL on late day 2 early day 3.

if you're not counting WR as a hole
then technically IOL isn't a hole either

in reality we need contributors at IOL, WR, TE, EDGE, CB - and depending on the health outlooks of Buchanan and Madubuike, DL and LB too

I don’t count WR as a hole because they have an ability be average 1 and a below average 2 making the room okay. Maybe a new WR3 is nice but that’s not enough to call it a hole.

Right now IOL is a massive hole. One of the 3 positions has a proven starter (not great but at least proven). The IOL is basically the WR room without Flowers.
