2026 Offseason Thread

I guess my questions would be:
1. If Lamar's teammates are at OTAs, then what is Lamar actually doing when he's not there?
2. What things can Lamar be doing when he's not at OTAs that would make him a better player instead of attending OTAs?

I'm not concerned about what happens outside of OTAs. We know he gets together with players. I'm just generally curious about the time allocation. Is he on vacation? Is he shooting commercials? Is he opening another dreadful fucking chicken shack?

No idea. I've said I'd prefer him there but I also don't see him missing as a huge deal. It is impressive to me how he's able to keep his private life hidden.

Bateman's career high is 72 targets, he's only crossed 60 twice. I think it's optimistic enough to pencil him for 60-65. But even as you drew it up, it's 10 targets /gm for Bateman/Tez/Sarrat/Lane. That number feels more like a season high than an average
Sure, but that's in much lower passing volume offenses. If you're projecting an increase in pass attempts, doesn't make sense why Bateman's would go anywhere but up, unless he's being displaced as the #2 by a rookie. And there's pretty much no vet available that would slide ahead of him. Including Hopkins.
So if you're projecting higher volume for Lamar, it'd be pretty hard to project flat or declining volume for the clear #2 target.

I don't view it as a huge deal. Nothing is everything. It's just another time period where there's the option to do more, and that option is accepted or declined for whatever reason he sees fit.

Me personally thinks its more of the "if I had an extension I'd probably be there" mentality, but takes two to tango.

Makes perfect sense though. You're projecting 2024 passing volume.
In 2024, Bateman/Agholor/Wallace averaged 7 targets/game. I think the 2026 group will do slightly more, while absorbing some of the targets from Likely. Still think you'll see heavier TE and RB usage than you're expecting. Which is probably a good thing.

@Simba We wouldn't be in on Josh Sweat wouldn't we? Saw multiple teams were calling for him, curious if we are one of them and the possibility of a deal.

Who's making excuses?

I think you all overestimate how much the qb is actually doing in these OTAs. You think hes going out there running these drills with the 10+ wrs on the roster? And he still gets together with skill players outside of these team activities. Hes had his failures but I could argue that Zay and Andrews fumbles were bigger back breakers. Not trying to excuse his errors but OTAs aren't changing those plays or getting our defense to start forcing TOs. Those OTAs also haven't gotten Allen over the hump or Burrow in the playoffs the last 3 years.

And despite missing these OTAs hes shown progress in his game every year
I’m not overestimating how much he’s doing there, I don’t care how much he’s doing there, that’s not the part that matters, being there with your team, working while they’re working, is what matters.

Haven't heard anything either way but I doubt it. Think they're still open to a vet but I'd guess that's a rotational guy. They just invested a huge contract into one guy and back-to-back 2nd round picks in the draft. Those are the guys they want on the field.

Justin Herbert missed voluntary workouts to galavant around the world with Madison Beer and people hardly batted an eye

We all know part of why the media does it. Ravens have a vocal fan base and he draws clicks. And as im responding to this epsn says hes back at camp... but is he a happy camper to bring up his contract.

So what if he was working harder away from the team. Still wouldn't matter? Just being there is what you're upset about?

To his defense…

He’s smacking prime Megan Fox every night.

You ain’t gonna leave that for “Voluntary” OTAs.

All your teammates gonna call you Homo as soon as they see you take the field.

this is reductive

It’s more like now he’s there with his new teammates and coaching staff putting in the work, learning the new systems, setting the pace/tone/standard in this new regime, establishing a baseline with 2 rookie WRs and 2 rookie TEs as to what he expects from them in terms of timing and rhythm in practice and how to translate it to gameday

Presence and commitment matters. It’s an attitude thing, your leaders should be present and committed to doing all the same things your followers are doing.
Not sure why this is so hard for some to understand. Pretty much every Ravens fan I know outside of here gets it.
They love Lamar so they excuse these things by creating their own narrative that this doesn’t matter. I also love Lamar but I don’t excuse halfassedness just because I’m a fan.

You can say correlation doesn’t equal causation but the qbs who beat him every postseason show up, at the bare minimum he should be putting in an equal amount of work that his rivals are putting in.

nobody is making excuses. I don't even know what excuse there is to make. I believe that he should be there given the changes (which he has been). I just won't make a bigger thing then it has to be. Him being a few days late in the grand scheme of things says nothing to me. Especially since he was there for voluntary workouts back in April.

A prime Madison Beer is finer than prime Fox
