2026 Offseason Thread

i dont want to read too much into it (but i will anyway)

Dwayne Ledford on the lounge when talking about the C competition, talked about jovaughn gwyn, talked about danny pinter - but did not bring up corey bullock at all

for me there's only 2 ways to read that:
1) he sees Bullock as a backup at best
or
2) he sees bullock as the entrenched starter and these guys are the competition to unseat him/compete to be the backup

I caught this too. Also caught that Pinter is referred to as Danny P by Ledford. Which doesn’t mean shit but you don’t give a guy a nickname if you don’t like him lol

spent this evening watch some film on those two guys

in Gwyn's case there's not that much meaningful stuff - it's like 11 snaps, mostly at RG, and mostly pretty poor tbh (obviously hard to come into games and instantly execute as a backup, so i give him grace for being late off the ball on a silent count, but he also looked like he got bullied by length and power which would be a concern)

i like danny pinter's tape at C a lot - don't like his G tape, and there's a reason he didn't survive at RG when given the chance at that job, but i really like the C tape - i think he was just unfortunate to be stuck behind Ryan Kelly for 5 years - having done the deep dive i'd be shocked if he's not the guy who gets the first crack with the 1s and i'd be surprised if he's not at least a key backup for us - Pinter's also a great fit stylistically - really explosive mover and 2nd level blocker - legit athlete at the position

my guess would be that the C competition doesn't manifest the way people think it will - if bullock's not getting 1s reps early, i think we'll be looking at more of a Bullock vs Gwyn competition for the backup job
but this does maybe also retroactively explain why they weren't gasping for a C on day 3 once the 2 guys they liked were gone (still not quite sure what the league didn't like about Sam Hecht) - none of the other guys were obvious threats to unseat the guys they already have

i still wouldnt rule out a trade
but feeling much better about Pinter
(and much worse about Gwyn)

You could tell me any single one of those guys is the starter, off the roster entirely, or somewhere in between and I would not be surprised.

And I’m not sure that’s a good thing but here we are.

having watched the film i've watched this evening, i'd be surprised if Pinter's off the roster
not saying it's a great position to be in

but i also don't think he'd be a disaster

i will say also that based on what i've seen, gwyn would be my "worst-case" outcome by far

if it's bullock or pinter, i can live with that

i like bullock and i really like how he's developed - obviously the risk is there's no evidence of that preseason form translating to the regular season

i love the pinter movement skills and fit within the offence, the starter C snaps are good, was stuck behind a really good starter for 5 years - but obviously there's some risk relating to how well he'll do as a full-time starter week-to-week

My early guess at the OL depth chart for the 53 man roster:

LT: Ronnie Stanley, Corey Vinson
LG: John Simpson, Andrew Vorhees
C: Danny Pinter, Corey Bullock
RG: Olaivavega Ioane, Emery Jones
RT: Roger Rosengarten

Jovaughn Gwyn and Evan Beertsen are the guys who could make it who just miss out in this scenario

Diego Pounds feels like the long-shot with the best chance of sticking

I don't disagree. Pinter's contract suggests he's depth at a minimum, but if they acquire someone and someone else beats him out, never say never.

But I agree with that semblance of an order... Pinter --> Bullock --> Gwyn

It's still way too early to know how things will work out with any of the three, but at this point of hindsight, how do y'all feel about the Crosby trade falling apart? Would you rather have Ioana and Zion Young or a healthy-ish Crosby?

I think we are better off without the trade. The combo of Vega and Zion on rookie deals beats Crosby and whatever O-lineman we got later on in the draft.

I’ll take the best G prospect since Nelson, Zion, Trey, and a 1st in a loaded 2027 class over that god awful rapper

I’d take Crosby over Trey even if it’s just a season of Crosby compared to 3 seasons of Trey, no question.

I would absolutely 100% take Trey, ioane, and Zion over Crosby.

I’ve said since February that ioane might be the single biggest net upgrade this team could find this offseason and I still believe that. Our guard play was so bad last year that getting a safe long term high end guard is literally a game changer, you can’t have your Franchise qb getting hit in the face and his feet stepped on.

You have immense willpower if you can go a whole offseason and not watch preseason just because footballs on again

i always see it's back on and within 2 drives remember why i only watch it to evaluate the roster bubble

but im a sicko and i persevere - will watch every snap of the ravens preseason just glean depth chart and role insights on different players (especially trenches guys)

It's the only worthy of PS, the tape on 2nd & 3rd stringers, which is better to watch on youtube. The starters play in the joint practices and you're even more likely to get a sense of new schemes there too.
