2026 Offseason Thread

when i say rich, im talking like sitting down at the table and guys got like 10k stacks.. or when they lose, they pull out a bunch of 1k chips and buy in with one…thats enough to bully others out of their position…however, there are in fact rich people that play 2/5 poker.
Well two things:
1. If they have $10K stacks, it's basically because they've been playing for a long time and won a bunch. No different than people sitting with $3K at a 1-3 game, which happens all the time.
2. Unless you're playing in an uncapped room, which I don't think there's too many of those, that's not a real thing. Most 2/5 games have a $1K cap on a buy-in. MAYBE they have a match-the-stack policy, which is by far the most equitable way to do it.
3. We clearly have dramatically different definitions of "rich people". A guy in Tampa with a net worth of $2M isn't what I would consider a "rich guy" when it comes to gambling. He's playing 2/5 because he can't find a game he can beat and because he's not really willing to lose that much.
When it comes to live poker, the actual "rich" people are playing in private games either inside the casino or outside of it. They're playing 100/200 or higher, and often play mixed games.

I would hope that everyone shows up for these workouts. Will be telling as to who is actually committed to being the best.

"The offseason could be a great advantage if you put in the time, if you put in the work to learn," Minter said. "That way, when you get to training camp, you can kind of hit the ground running from a scheme standpoint and for how you operate.”

Volunteer workouts doesnt mean you dont wanna be the best though lol. I know someone said its like 3-4 different phases. Would yall be ok with lamar just attending the part of it where he only learning the scheme and just skip all the other stuff? I mean im sure he gonna show up. I believe he did during monkens first year.. id be surprised if qb of lamars caliber ever skipped out when your team has a bunch of new coaches

1. He ain't showing up for all of it, so don't know why people think he will.
2. The entire point is that since they're "voluntary", nobody knows what they're doing if they're not there. Maybe they're doing high-end workouts with a set of trainers in their hometown, or maybe they're working out years worth of diarrhea from eating at Lamar's "restaurant". Who knows.

Obviously, it just comes down to "optics". If you just won a SB, you can do whatever the fuck you want. If you and dozens of your other teammates directly contributed to getting your coach fired and missing the playoffs in a year where you were allegedly a SB contender, there's no version of skipping any of OTAs that makes you look "good".
Just comes down to whether public perception is important to you or not. I'm a person who thinks it doesn't mean anything, but a lot of these guys live their lives on social media, so there's that.

They’re voluntary because the player CBA made them that way. And it ain’t about individual performance, it’s about functioning best as a team, and the first step there is developing relationships with coaches and teammates. And you gotta put the work in, not just as an individual, but as a team. Just “learning the scheme” ain’t gonna cut it.

You need an Ed Reed lecture. lol

naw i just know voluntary workouts not gonna make or break a season for lamar..I do think he gonna attend this season but i dnt think he deserves all the criticism for not going.

But that’s the point. It ain’t about Lamar, it’s about the team.

If Lamar isn’t present for essentially all of the offseason programs, then he’s not as serious as he says he is about winning a ring.

New regime, new systems, an entirely new program that you have to learn and navigate with your teammates who you’re leading.

Lamar sets the standard, he’s the unquestioned leader and heart and soul of this team, he’s the guy that other players wanna play with and come here to join him, he’s the guy with the gravity, if he isn’t taking every opportunity to build this from the ground up with the new coaching staff, then he’s setting the bar low, and for a guy who is gonna drag his feet and handcuff the team everytime his contract needs reworked, he damn sure better put in the extra hours in the building with the guys to build that culture.

Most offseasons, the OTA thing is overblown but I also think it means a lot to the whole team to have the star qb out there grinding with them consistently. This year is different, it’s crucial that everyone is as present as humanly possible, and that goes x3 for Lamar.

i think he gonna be there for sure..I mean i think he should attend this year and i would even bet that he does but if he doesnt, i wouldnt care at all…… has nothing to do with workouts but we not winning a ring this year.. not with this current team and 100 new coaches.

Winning a ring at any point with an entirely new coaching staff, begins this offseason.

in 2023, Lamar asked for a trade, signed a long-term deal, skipped most of OTAs despite having a brand new offensive coordinator and system

He then went on to win his 2nd MVP and lead the team to their first ever home AFC Championship game

it would be great if he went to OTAs, but it really doesn't matter if he skips them

in 2024, he skipped OTAs, missed out on 750k in incentives, and then had one of the most historic QB seasons ever and was robbed of a 3rd MVP (and back-to-back wins) by media who were too bored of him winning

SKIP THE OTA'S LAMAR

Is there a reason offseason activities are starting really, really early? I thought everything started in May after the Draft, but it seems there's OTAs before the Draft?
