2026 Offseason Thread

Now that we have a Head Coach..... it's time to see which free agents from the defensive side of the ball could join Minter in Baltimore this off-season. I think a reunion with Tony Jefferson is quite possible, gives us some veteran depth in our secondary. Oweh coming back would be interesting but after the year he had, he might get the big bucks and be out of our range. Mack as the veteran pass rusher we usually sign might work if he doesn't end up retiring. I think Teair Tart would be a good add on the defensive line, especially if Madubike retires. Could come cheap, as he signed only a 1 year deal with the Chargers last off season.

Khalil Mack EDGE UFA
Teair Tart DL UFA
Odafe Oweh EDGE UFA
Denzel Perryman LB UFA
Benjamin St-Juste CB UFA
Da'Shawn Hand EDGE UFA
Del'Shawn Phillips LB UFA
Tony Jefferson S UFA
Otito Ogbonnia DL UFA
Deane Leonard CB UFA

This is kind of crazy lmaoooooooooooo

@Simba

Any idea if we’re bringing back KVN or if we don’t want him back or if it’s a “we will see” moment?

His message here makes me think he’s been told he’s out
if that's the case, Thank you for your time in Baltimore KVN. You have been a great player and a class act. You will be missed.

I’d be surprised if he’s back. Defensive scheme issues for sure, but it looked like he was lacking juice all year too

If KVN gets into coaching I would expect a RAPID climb up the ranks for him. He’s that guy. Probably one of the highest iq players in the league and the young players flock to him.

Which is funny that players gravitate towards him because he definitely comes across as corny

I reckon he's trying hard to get into the media. Not sure he's interested.
Certainly seems that way, just saying it’s a shame because if he did wanna go that route I think he would excel

he’s corny but he’s Unc to the young players they love that shit because he’s super genuine and really knows his shit and is always dropping gems to the young bucks like it’s just in his nature

Random thought, I know that Marlon has been fading, but he still makes plays. At what point do we consider moving him to Safety?

He seems like the guy that could make that transition. Kind of a crowded room there right now, but he has been better inside most his career.

Marlon typically alternates good and bad seasons. If he follows his own trends he should have a pretty good year.

Crazy thing to count on though, so realistically, stop putting him outside, let him play slot full time, let him get some rushes and let him use his tackling and physicality, his long speed and ability to make up for lost steps seems to have fallen off a cliff, and pairing that with his poor ball skills is just deadly. He’s still got plenty that he does well we just have to start limiting his exposure to certain things.

Would be really nice if we could keep Hamilton in a full time SS/LB hybrid role and have Humphrey as a primary nickel, a lot of playmaking potential there, but of course you need another outside cb unless you wanna count on awuzie and Wiggins.

I think Minter and EDC make that call but he's going to need to take a pay cut this coming season. 27m is way too much for him.

just think that's funny in light of what some people were saying about certain coaches during our HC search

i dont like that idea
i obviously love being able to rotate guys around

but i think if you put marlon in as your primary nickel, you're taking your best defender out of the most important spot on the field defensively

kyle's an elite nickel

would want marlo as an option to slide in there when you're moving hamilton around but i'd need him to have another primary role within the defence

and im not sure whether he'll be back tbh unless he takes a paycut

Being a cornball as a personality trait isn’t inherently a bad thing I don’t think.

What’s truly corny and in the worst way is someone who’s trying to be something and it’s coming off as not genuine or forced, or saying shit just because that’s the persona you’ve built for yourself and now you’re forced to be that, like what harbaugh was doing in the locker room all season long. Harbaugh isn’t a cornball because it’s part of his personality, he’s a cornball because he’s taking himself seriously.

Like the rapper tom macdonald corny, compared to like Michael Scott corny. One corny is severely worse than the other lol

I’d agree with this.

I think Harbaugh is corny and I think so is McDaniel. Doesn’t mean I didn’t want McDaniel as a HC, but I had some real reservations. He’ll be an elite OC though.

But KVN has those vibes where he could pull it off but let’s see how he is as a DC or positional coach first

This is best case scenario if it comes to fruition. I was all the way out on McDaniel as a HC. As an OC? Sign me upppp!!!
