He's a rookie. It happens. Outside of that he had a solid year. Maybe the ravens need to bring in more competition next year for him but it happens. But but but, he had the “right stuff” for the big moments when he met with the Ravens brass.

Leg strength isn't ridiculously important. You're very rarely kicking 60+ for game winners. You are routinely kicking 40 and 50 yarders for game winners. Kickers even in HS has the leg strength for that.I understand the thought process at least. The leg strength is special. But the consistency never got there. I don’t think it’s time to throw in the towel but he should absolutely not just be handed the job next season.
Dude was over 90% on his kicks this yearLeg strength isn't ridiculously important. You're very rarely kicking 60+ for game winners. You are routinely kicking 40 and 50 yarders for game winners. Kickers even in HS has the leg strength for that.
The most important things for a kicker are accuracy, consistency, and the mental.
Loop was never that accurate and was EXCEPTIONALLY inconsistent.
The FO definitely weaved themselves a tale where his leg strength was going to be a weapon and fumbled the most basic of evaluations. Dude wasn't an accurate and consistent kicker.
He's legitimately the Breshad Perriman pick. A WR with crazy speed but had bricks for hands. That's not a WR.
I want him gone and a vet kicker. I was fine with him until this kick, I promise he never recovers and I'll never forgive him regardless. Learn accounting loop boy.I thought he was developing well but it looks like a swing and a miss at this point. Never found anything meaningful over 50. Kickoffs have been terrible. And now he has to come back from this. Not going to be an easy road for him.
I don’t disagree but that’s also oversimplifying it. They thought they could build in the accuracy because his mechanics were all off. Turns out that has not been the case, but he wasn't some finished product either.Leg strength isn't ridiculously important. You're very rarely kicking 60+ for game winners. The bad part is I don't know if we end up getting changes from this season. Maybe Orr goes? Like we need change but I don't know if they happen at this point. But earlier pick and hopefully the Steelers get stomped by the Texans who I don't think we were going to beat, especially if Hamilton was out for the game.
And he's 100% on missing a game winning fg...Dude was over 90% on his kicks this year

Yeah, but he also has all of those kickoffs out of bounds this season. Those are inexcusable. He's a rookie. It happens. Outside of that he had a solid year. Maybe the ravens need to bring in more competition next year for him but it happens.
That's such an incomplete look. He missed nearly every kick over 50. That's totally unnaceptable. He also missed multiple extra points. He was awful at kickoffs for the same reason. He doesn't have consistent control.Dude was over 90% on his kicks this year
Also I don’t think the defense was stopping them even if they downed it at the fucking 1I actually don't think the out of bounds kicks are a big deal. Touchback is 35 and ob in zone is 40. Steelers looked like they were going to break a return all game too.
That's worse! That means they saw a guy with terrible mechanics and said yep he's our guy for this team with SB aspirations.I don’t disagree but that’s also oversimplifying it. Don't let loop distract you from the players being chronic chokers. Anyone see how fired up Tomlin had the players on the sideline?1) Loop kicked one return in a line drive and Steelers got a big return out of it .
2) Loop then kicked one return out of bounds
3) Loop then missed a winning field goal kick by a mile with no wind .
3 strikes your out of a Ravens job .
There has to be better kickers out there.
If Orr stays I might just say SB has to goFor all of the talk about firings, I feel like it’s much more likely that Monken gets the axe vs. Orr based on what I’ve heard, but I have no confidence in that. And well if Harbaugh happens to be gone, both will be so it doesn’t matter anyways.
