Brandon Boykin signs with Ravens

I mean, there's a reason the guy is a free agent in June, but he'll be a solid fill in, I think.
Injuries are the primary reason, missed all of last year I think. If he passes his physical though, this signing could surprise some people. He was an excellent corner in Philly and Pittsburgh.

Probably takes us out of the running for Maclin though. Oh well

i like this signing if he has recovered fully.

If this guy passed the physical and is healthy, man, firstly how the hell is he only 26 still? and second, he was actually better than tavon was IMO (when healthy)

There has to be a catch but really hope it works out.

I remember one play he made, either in philly or a goergia where he made some crazy back handed pick while taking it away from the reciever

whenever hes played hes been really good. it's odd...even in pittburgh he graded out top 20 (PFF)in both seasons. He was top 3 in 2013.
He was basically a better version of tavon and at 26 he should be in his prime...

The positive sign is that we've generally held off on giving contracts to players who aren't recovered. Jake Long comes to mind. Nick Mangold left without a contract before it was reported that he wasn't through his recovery timetable. Boykin has a low floor due to the injury concerns, but this is about as high upside/low risk signing as you can have during the summer. If he's healthy, he could very well return to form, and he was one of the better slot CBs in the league when healthy, if not best. Pittsburgh even gave him some snaps on the outside, where he was solid as well. I'm all for the signing.

We released Arrington as well(thank god). Combine that, with the Pitta money, and possibly Watson, given that we likely signed Boykin to the vet minimum, that might be enough to make a play for Maclin.

Doubt it, but let's see what happens.

This almost assuredly takes out of the Maclin race, but it seems like a great move to replace Tavon. I'm okay with this.
I don't think so. If we really want Maclin, we'd find a way to make it work.

I hope you're right, but I'm not optimistic. Weddle and Jefferson are gonna have to use all of their recruiting efforts because if it comes down to money then we're going to get outbid even if we do free up cap space somehow.
