The Fumbles, the Lamar Injury, and the Season’s Over?

Sure, but its also not consistently bad. Pass protection was excellent last night. Probably the best Oline play, both in pass protection and in the run game, we've seen all season. Didn't matter. Still lost. Still didn't move the football in the air very well.

There are games where it's a problem, and there are games when it's not. Last night the Oline was a strength, not a weakness. And yet the outcome seemed very similar to a lot of other outcomes.

I'd also point out that we've had plenty of seasons with Lamar where we had, at a minimum, a top 10 Oline. And in many of those years, the emphasis was still on "run the ball a lot and stop the run".
Agree on all fronts aside from not moving the ball well through the air. Lamar was gashing them with zay, Hopkins was making some plays, and shit was going very well until Henry fumbled.

Running the ball isn’t inherently bad. I like the premise of building an offense that’s capable of matching rush and pass yardage and going with whatever is working best at that particular time, in theory it’s an unstoppable design, but the execution throws all that out the window, and by execution I’m talking about both the players and their dumb ass moments, along with the OC and his dumb ass moments, because there are plenty of times where what they’re doing just doesn’t make sense

I just don’t get how an entire team from the coaches to the players can so consistently crumble and melt down in tight moments.

Sometimes if not a lot of times Lamar is unscheduled. He likes to go for the big play even when he hurt. Huntley is more disciplined within the play call as he's more willing to go for what the defense is giving him which is probably cause he understands his limitations as a passer .
Huntley was literally being given RPO slants, like immediately when he came in.

When is the last time Lamar was given a true RPO with a slant?

Well, I would disagree to an extent. This season we've seen issues in every facet

1. Receivers (TE, RB, WR) all dropping catchable balls
2. Receivers (TE, RB, WR) all turning over the ball in asinine ways (fumbles into the EZ, weird lateral passes, ball bouncing off hands to defender, uncharacteristic fumbles, etc.)
3. Quarterback (Lamar Jackson being off at times, rattled, etc.)
4. Offensive Line (poor interior play, poor center play, poor tackle play)

Simba has said it, but honestly we have not played a complete game this year. We constantly have something that was a strength become a failure. It's almost comical if it wasn't our team. We cannot play a complete, cohesive game to save our season or lives.
True, this year there has been problems with all of it, but I believe pretty strongly that Lamar being off, rattled, injured, etc. stems from poor pass pro and play design that leaves him exposed to the point that he gets injured and has to panic and run for his life, because, cmon now, we’ve seen it all year. Even against the bengals last week in the first half our offense looked like a nightmare because of the line.

But yeah the entire team has this problem of just melting tf down

FYI…..
The last three seasons that Pissburgh has visited Cleveland:
24-19 loss
13-10 loss
29-17 loss
just saying…….

So they’re due to win… lmao. Fuck man. I will say, the way the AFCN has been a joke this year, we would win with Huntley this week and the Browns d will win the game for Cleveland so we get a play in game week 18 after all, just not the way it was expected.

It’s crazy to me how pass protection is a massive problem whether it’s Lamar or Huntley, yet as soon as Huntley comes in, bam, instant easy completions when asked to pass. Where are these plays when Lamar is in? Why is it seemingly impossible for our OC to design a pass play to just keep the offense on schedule when Lamar is in?

You can see the difference. With Huntley they can design an offense that doesn’t leave the qb exposed to mass pressure, with Lamar they design an offense where the qb has to bail out everyone consistently
This is because the OC is a moron

Harbaugh said him and the RB coach Willie Taggart decided Mitchell would start the final drive. If our RB coach is just as dumb as Harbaugh, he's got to go too.

So if we mess up the personal package for the first play we can’t fix it for the next 2? It’s insane

it's not about discipline
it's a function of the offence they build around lamar

they call different plays that allow for lamar to create chunks and extend time in the pocket with his movement and feel

and it has fundamentally worked - the difference this year is that when that's not available to them, the offence in structure has been horrible

So their backup lineman should be starting then? Backup OL don't play that well, otherwise Faalele would be a All Pro.

backup OL don't lose every single play
if they did, they wouldn't be backups, they'd be doing a different career

faalele doesn't lose every single play either - doesn't make him a good player

not every play is designed in a way that allows a rush to happen either

but all im saying is the plays you said there were holding on that werent called, had nothing even remotely like holding going on

he had one with DHop against the bengals that went for a huge play lol
but that's basically the only one i can remember all season

tbf the only way taggart could be more of a nepotism hire would be if his surname was actually harbaugh
he's basically a member of the family
