2026 RB Thread

Don't think he's got near enough vision or explosion to be put in that light
I’ll admit I’ve only watched rb highlights and not film, but man Washington’s highlights are absurd, when you’re only watching the good, Washington looks better than Love.

With RBs I’ve always found that [watching off highlights without tape] to be a tough way to watch. Much of what RB do is build-up throughout the game such as Henry. I haven’t watched the highlight reels of either but how long were these videos? If I do watch highlights, I like to see how many there are and if the highlight is from the player (1st order effect) or from a supporting player (2nd order effect) or a defensive mistake (3rd order effect)

Rb highlights tend to be long as shit, I probably watched around 15 minutes across 2 videos.

Usually what I’ve always done is watch highlights first to see if they grab my eye, if they do I’ll follow up with film study. I just don’t get into it as much as I used to, don’t have time for it anymore. At this point I only watch film of OL

He’s got some moments but his film definitely shows the vision issues. Even when he does hit the hole, he hesitates far too often and then seemingly doesn’t have the explosion to get out of there when he does decide what he wants to do.

Think there’s something to work with there but feels like a rotational back is the more likely outcome. But never say never. He’s definitely one of my favorites in that third tier.

it's also that highlights don't show you a lot of stuff:
1) missed reads/poor vision
2) negative or normal plays where runners had to be creative to even get that much
3) pass pro and route running
4) normal plays in the rhythm of the offence - a lot of highlights (by their nature) hit off tackle or outside which naturally doesnt show you how they work inside the tackles

a true sicko like me

QBs and RBs are boring

give me the NTs and the OL tape

given the combine i've marked him for a rewatch but my first impression was that he wasn't great between the tackles - not aggressive despite the size and not explosive (despite the testing) - been a few guys with that kind of profile the last few drafts... guys that you look at the measurables and the testing and production and think this guy's gonna be great and then you watch the tape and they're slow to cut and don't play to their size

More that you can easily follow an OL through a full game of tape and judge every snap, where with skill players you often gotta sift through a bunch of nothing and track the players down pre snap and all that shit.

But also I do like watching the big dogs tussle

i really want to because of the testing and how emotional he was after he ran the 40

but i really don't like the tape at all
Feels like the type of guy that has a short stretch where he looks like a dude and reverts back to what the tape says. Athletic testing numbers are insane but the vision and decisiveness just aren't there. Feels like there's a lot of thinking going on live when he's got the ball.

also he's big but i dont think he plays big - not consistently winning through contact
and as you say, not hitting the hole with good vision or decisiveness

with his tools, you'd think he'd be an awesome 1-cut back in outside-zone - but he just doesnt look like he has it

Best case scenario is that he follows the path of Justice Hill. Hill looked awful his rookie year despite his amazing speed, but he steadily improved.

I dnt even know what he did at combine. Tape looks decent though. Dont know where he projected to go but if its mid round, he for she worth the risk

Agreed.. i think he a better version of latavius murry though who i disliked when he got him. Liked him coming out but disliked him later on

i dont think they're similar players at all

washington's a guy who hastens to the edges, slow to trigger downhill, takes time to change direction and doesnt have explosive acceleration
hill was good at reading blocks in space, quick feet, fought hard through contact despite being undersized, sharp lateral cuts

just completely different profiles

only thing that says washington can be good in pass pro is his size and he doesnt project as a receiver

This is maybe the worst RB draft class I can remember evaluating

Jeremiyah Love is great obviously - for me might be the 2nd best prospect in the whole class
Jadarian Price is the clear RB2 for me and he's a top 75 player for me

but then it's armageddon

my RB3 is Seth McGowan who might be off most teams' boards
the only other guy with a top 100 grade for me is Emmett Johnson

i know some people like Mike Washington as a top 100 guy but i don't see it

and day 3 is a mess

Adam Randall intrigued me as a former WR. He’s a guy I’d start to consider on Day 3. That said, depends on other positions and especially who is there.
