Next Up: vs Jets

EDC has consistently done this. He neglects a position group entirely, it does horribly in season, he really fixes is it the next season.

The problem is, you cannot ever let OL or pass rush be a neglected a position group of you want to win a SB. And he let both be BS.

It's honestly stupid af because he's really capable as a GM. He can make good trades. He can scout early round talent. He just insists on playing "money ball" instead of just using his talent and being reasonable.

i mean i dont see it as a lack of trying tbh

Last 5 drafts:
10 draft picks spent on OL:
1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 7, 7

6 draft picks spent on EDGE:
1, 2, 2, 3, 4, 5

In that same period in free agency
2021:
let matt skura leave
signed Zeitler, let him go in 2024 offseason
traded away Orlando Brown Jr
signed alejandro villanueva

2022:
signed morgan moses, traded him away in 2024 offseason
re-signed pat mekari, let him leave in 2025 offseason
let Bradley Bozeman leave

2023:
signed John simpson, let him go in the 2024 offseason
signed Josh Jones
let Ben Powers leave

2025:
re-signed Ronnie Stanley

2024 was clearly an inflection point for this OL for sure
but i dont think you can say he's moneyballed at the position and at EDGE they've just had a bunch of misses

I get what you're saying dont get me wrong. He needs to be taken as a whole, not singled out for any one group or draft. However, he drafts moneyball because HE says he does (and it's fairly clear he's right in his own assessment).

Even when you look at his drafts within OL...wouldn't the 1 being at center and the 2 being at RT, one of the two 3's being hurt not just be the concept of moneyball on the OL scale?

Agree about EDGE. He just sucks at that position given where we've been drafting. Mike Green MAY be a counterpoint.

with OL,
he's not drafting a LT because we already had one

it's more to point out that they do consistently draft guys with mid and late round picks at OL, many of whom have turned into starters and some have even gone and got significant second contracts

they've been unlucky with their 3rd round picks at the position

and EDGE has been a position the whole NFL has struggled to find outside of the top 20 picks in the draft

Honestly I think the Jets are the QB factory of the NFL… they just have to leave the Jets to become good.

geno smith
sam darnold

anyone else?

by this metric, zach wilson should eventually become a starting QB too

the actual answer is probably the patriots:
brady
garoppolo
brissett
maye

I cannot wait for the letup game coming soon to a field near you... I want the pain over with ASAP. Understand that I wait for it with trepidation and not joy...

When you use logic like that... I hate you!
