2026 Baltimore Orioles

I used the word inept the other day. I think that's appropriate. They look lost in a lot of situations. Their fielding is terrible. Two third outs were missed, giving the Rays additional chances that they took advantage of. 11 SO's after 9 yesterday and 10 the day before is scary. They cannot hit breaking balls that are low and inside or outside. They routinely SO on them. It looks like they are lost and just swinging blindly, almost. 7/9 regulars are batting below .250 and 5 of those are batting between .178 and .215. That is ineptitude.

We could be 14+ GB before we know it.

Defense is laughable .

Gunnar is getting the yips again throwing to first. Alonso is not good at adjusting to bad throws. I think it's time to shake things up. Even imagining everyone healthy for the last month doesn't do much for me. I just can't see them being enough to get us to .500 much less significantly above that. I hate to say it, but I think the fabric of the team was broken by the trades they made at the deadline in 23 and 24.

Stuff like this would be more enjoyable if the Orioles can ever start winning consistently. Maybe as we head into the Summer months of Baseball, they can heat up and be in the running for a AL Wild Card spot by the end of the year.

Colton gonna go for a 3 fer walk off tonight! I can feel it.

Well, I'm almost afraid to say anything. Their DEF is still poor - especially throwing to first and 1B making plays on bad throws... But sweeping the Rays is pretty impressive. They also still struggle with the low off-speed and breaking stuff and SO's, except for yesterday, are still kind of high, but WOW. They have clearly gotten the message on hitting and need to keep that train on the track.

Probably wouldn't have won Wednesday anyway, but Alexander shouldn't be playing CF. Strikeouts are still kind of high, but looking around the league we seem to be about average. That's amazing to me because they still chase low and outside like they're hounds on a fox hunt. I know Alexander is hitting pretty well, but Mayo and Cowser seem to both be coming on and probably warrant more regular playing time rather than PH's and OFF or DEF substitutions. I would kind of like to see Cowser in RF over TON.

Orioles win 13-3 over Toronto, and overtake them for the last wild card spot in the AL. Plus Yankees lost, no Judge for the foreseeable future, huge opportunity for the O's this Summer.
