Next Up: vs Rams

Yesterdays game wasn't in the stratosphere of a "season saving game". Neither is next week. Everything about whether this team will be competitive or not will start post-bye week.
There is truth to this but the Ravens have made it very very hard now to save this season. Only Lamar can get this done somehow and not sure if he will be ready

Hopefully it can help, I still want to make the playoffs. We need all the shots in the playoffs as possible with Lamar
So I think fans need to understand two things:
1. There is no universe where an in-season HC change leads to this team surging. The interim HC is already in the building, and its either Orr, Monken, or Pagano, of which nobody thinks any of those three are leading you to the promise land.
2. I personally am not sold this franchise will fire John mid-season, regardless of output. On the Monday after the season ends, 100% he's gone if things keep going this way. But the mid-season thing is a pipe dream in my opinion.

I'm advocating a change in culture as well, but this midseason stuff doesn't matter.

1-5 would be an extremely tough hole to climb out of, but the good news is that (a) the schedule lightens up considerably post-bye and (b) there aren't many great teams out here. If you can sneak yourself into playoff contention by rattling off a good number of wins, there's a shot. The confidence for doing that should rightfully be slim, but there's still plenty of time left.

I don't have much confidence, largely because of the defense.
But I just want to see what the active roster looks like post-bye. We "should be" relatively healthy. Possibly missing only like Madubuike at that point, depending on how injuries shake out.

That team will score points against some pretty bad defenses the rest of the way. The only question will be whether the D turns around.
For me, I think Orr getting fired over the bye is inevitable, and I think you could see somewhat of a "new season" starting post-bye. Maybe they crumble, maybe they prosper. I have no idea.

I just don't think they're all going to roll over and die unless all of these injuries become season-ending or multi-month injuries.

I can agree with that. The offense certainly has problems, but they're putting us in positions to win games (obviously with Lamar at the helm, not Rush).

The defense is the problem though. This team has a fighting chance if they can even start playing middle of the pack ball. Unfortunately, I just think the problems this year are larger than what we overcame last year.

Only four NFL teams have made the playoffs after a 1-5 start, according to sources from late 2023 and early 2024. These four teams are the 1970 Cincinnati Bengals, the 2015 Kansas City Chiefs, the 2018 Indianapolis Colts, and the 2020 Washington Football Team.

It's purely betting odds, so it doesn't correlate with winning games, but IF Lamar is back after the bye and plays the rest of the way, we will be favored in at least 7 of our next 8 games after the bye. And the only game where I think we "might" be an underdog is @ Minnesota, and I think we'll be favored then.

Call me what you want but I’d rather not even bother making the playoffs and instead getting a high pick/cleaning house in the process. Same shit’s gonna happen in the playoffs anyways. We’re not winning a damn thing with this current coaching staff and we fuck ourselves out of a blue chip prospect. Same fucking cycle

EDC will trade out of the pick and get a bunch of 2nd round picks and draft projects that end up never producing

Still can’t believe we have someone here defending Orr

also the AFC North sucks this year and all the division games are at the end of the schedule

2.5 games behind 1st place even at 1-4

1-5 is tough but not out of the question to sneak a wildcard with the 7th seed
but it does rely on lamar being back and healthy and the defence finding some semblance of solidity

It's hard to expect anything other than a shellacking given how terrific the Rams have looked this season. I'm just hoping to see upticks within our weakest position groups heading into the bye week. Will never count us out of a game, but the might be the least confident I can be heading into a specific matchup.

Don’t worry, they just gotta work harder this week, our HC said so, I’m sure they’ll work harder and it’ll all work out

I do think this game has turned into the turning point for the season, although I don't think the result really matters as far as a win or a loss.

What matters is how this team comes out. Do they come out strong, play with heart, and at least look like there's a fight? If so, I think you have to stay the course and try to compete, especially in a year where it looks like there are no clear better than the rest teams.

Do they come out looking like they have the last few weeks - lifeless, flat, and confused? I think I'm throwing in the towel at that point, because that speaks to a larger issue that I don't think can be remedied without significant change.

A loss doesn't kill us, but the way we show up does.

If they come out and play soft like they did against the Texans , heads better roll .
