The Embarrassment, the Blowout and the Coaching

Yeah I don't really know what to make of it right now. I've heard Orr's seat is hot and I wonder if Harbaugh is just not going to publicly throw his guy under the bus. I partially feel for Orr because no one is going to succeed with the players we're throwing out there, but there are also so many schematic issues that I don't know how you can overlook.

And then on the player front, I just don't know how you get better at this stage. Sure you can sub out some back end of the roster fodder for more back end of the roster fodder but the chances of that making a difference are slim. We need our big names to get healthy and start playing like we know they can.
He needs fucking gone at least one week before the bye, let the team get a week of live bullets with the interim DC, see some things that need work, implement over the bye.

I dont think any of our 3 coordinators or GM are super competent. It's just a weird place to be. I'm not saying they're horrible but they're just so aggressively pedestrian. If there's no real leader or outstanding personnel in the coaching department, you've got no chance to overcome an injury storm.
Aggressively pedestrian! Wow. That is really poinant. There are second team guys that have shown they can even .5 replace a starter. I don't think I've seen that in the past.

But that John and everyone in the office keeps saying this is a talented great bunch of guys years after year, seemingly without check, its not surprising we are blindsided by underperformance by second and third team guys.

Orr is going to probably be gone after this season. I don’t think he will stick around for much longer. I think the injuries will give him more time but beyond that, he’s probably gone. Even with the starters, the defense has been bad, guys out of position, miscommunication, etc. I think there will be a lot of changes on this defense, players included. They’re definitely going to have to work to get a pass rusher.

The coaching was bad when the starters were playing. Not as bad, still not acceptable though

Thats what I'm saying, man. The seconds did nothing to help us with the stars starting. The stares weren't even close to stellar. What did any infomed fan expect today knowing that? The average fan and us too were sold a false bill of goods.

John has has been doing this for almost his whole tenure.

I think his saving grace right now is the injuries. And not because they excuse him, but because they have people rotating in and out of the lineup and dropping the coordinator is going to make that even more chaotic than it already is. That's why I've been told that IF a move is made, the bye makes sense. But that doesn't mean they won't do it this week and also doesn't mean they'll do it at all.

What I want to know is this.

Why was the team this level of bad even when healthy? I get that the coaching staff has been suspect for awhile now. But a talented roster doesn't gove up 40+ every single week. A talented roster doesn't have legitimately no answer to a 5 man rush

This game was one of the more predictable ones this weekend. Down all the best players on defense, and the elite QB on offense and going against a team that has been in the divisional round in back to back years. This screamed blowout. The Ravens offense is built around Lamar so it never looks good when he is out. Meanwhile the defense cant really be good at anything as the secondary which was the strength is out its 2 best players and the middle is out their best LB and the best pass rusher is out. This was the most predictable result.

When you watch the Titans defense and see how well Dennard Wilson is doing coaching their defense. This man was the defensive backs coach for us and we let him walk to keep Orr. Should have gave Wilson the job while letting Orr continue to get more experience as a Linebackers coach.

Harbs halftime interview was home being really irritated and continued through. I get the bad circumstances but coming out of the bye I hope there are some coaching changes, but remain skeptical until proven otherwise

It was obvious in hindsight but Texans offense has been really struggling up until the second half vs Titans. The biggest difference was the lack of pass rush and Stroud with a clean pocket. That's 100% bad Ravens D issue though. Texans D vs Rush and co. was as predictable as you said

The reason the Texans offense was struggling (the same is true of KC to be honest) is the lack of time to throw. That does not really work when the main source of your pass rush is out and you don't have a secondary now that can cover long enough to really give the pass rush time. Its just a bit of a mess and they need to get healthy but will probably take one more loss before the bye.

Fortunately after the bye the schedule is 6 straight very winnable games.
