The Injuries, the Defense and the Offense (and the Special Teams)

Especially when you consider the principles this team was built on. After reupping with Henry not addressing the line was a terrible decision.
They have definitely taken the "well Lamar can make the OL look good" approach, and there's some validity to that... but it's falling apart now and there's no recourse.

Lamar is an interesting one. I’ve no doubt he is hurt but I wonder how severe it is. Kinda weird if he was pulled as a precaution but also not undeniable because anyone could see we weren’t winning the game. It was kinda obvious the Ravens quit in the game. They quit before Lamar came out, their body language just sucked

We all know if the game was close and this team was playing up to par, Lamar would’ve battled to finish the game.

Lamar quit cause the team was ass. Players were ass, coaching was ass.

They actually broke Lamar lol

Mike Green sucks
He's been such a weird eval so far this season because he has a few moments a game where he pulls a trick out of his bag and it works, and then the rest of the time he just tries to bull and it fails. It feels like there's some sort of mental block there - maybe the focus on trying to hold the edge as well? I'm speculating of course but it certainly doesn't look like this is a "let him eat" like in preseason type of thing so far.

Final thought for the night...

I will never understand our aversion to running the ball when we get down. It was effective. Henry was ripping 5 yards a clip and had a lot more positive than negative in his limited run. But for some reason when we go down against a high powered offense, we think the only way to keep up is to throw throw throw. Jam it down their throats and control the TOP. That's the best way to keep them from continuing to put up points - don't let them get the ball.

Ridding of Kevin Zietler is one of the worst mistakes we will ever make. It efficiently fucked over our line for 2 pivotal years with Lamar. All that to save 6 mil y1 4 mil y2?? Insane that we decided that was the place and value to take a stand on.
It wasn’t a money thing with him. They were worried about the body breaking down late in the season and that’s exactly what happened in Detroit. He wasn’t available in the playoffs before they exited.

Teams convert every crucial downs on us because we give too much cushion on defense.

We fail every crucial down on offense because team can just spam cover 0, blitz… knowing our OLine can’t block up the middle.

We’re cooked.

We don't have a real ILB other than Roquan. This has been an issue for some time because they keep picking hybird DE/LB's instead of true LB's. True ILB is the newer TE in drafts.

The fall of Roquan from top-tier linebacker to average at best linebacker has been quick and dramatic.

Our other inside linebackers aren’t worth much, either.
I think a lot of it is due to scheme and Zach Orr. Roquan was a top Linebacker under Mike Macdonald, but he has fallen off big time since he left for Seattle. That was never a issue previously when we lost a DC, we lose a DC and our defense pretty much stays the same barring injuries. Orr continues to play guys out of position and it's frustrating to watch. There better be a "Zach Orr has been relieved of his duties as Ravens Defensive Coordinator" alert by lunch time tomorrow.

There better be a "Zach Orr has been relieved of his duties as Ravens Defensive Coordinator" alert by lunch time tomorrow.

Deep down.. we all know that’s not gonna happen.
