The Forty, the Fumble, and the Fucking Déjà Vu

I'm truly astounded by the coaching.

Why are you running hurry up offense on the first play of offense? That's ridiculous.

Why are you rushing zero and giving up a sideline pass before the half.

Why are you blowing the clock management and 2PT conversion decisions so poorly that you're giving the other team points multiple times!

Why are you punting at the end when the tale as old as time is right there in front of you?

Then on top of that, the players on defense were atrocious.

Furthermore, I dont know how many years in a row I can say this. EDC can play "money ball" all he wants and just say that we're doing amazing things regarding roster construction, but he continually and perpetually misses the mark on the basic 3 part formula to winning a SB.

QB
OL
Pass rush

This team is just so bad at situational football

Watched the Greg Roman chargers offence put the chiefs away by being aggressive on Friday night

Decided to get conservative and lost

4th and 3… bad decision
Not going for 2 up 15… bad decision
Jaire Alexander not letting him score
Running a play before the 2 minute warning
Just to throw this out there, since I noticed it live...
Lamar limped off before 4th and 3. In the post-game, either he or Harbaugh said he was cramping, and that Lamar wasn't even lobbying to go for it. Ultimately I don't know if it changes the decision, but if Lamar can't run, or even isn't on the field for that down, would you still lobby to go for it?

I’m not going to lie, I wasn’t mad at the decision to punt late. I had 0 confidence we would actually convert. I think we had already let the momentum swing away from us at that stage and the play calling was so poor leading up to that moment that we were probably in for another bullshit run sideline to sideline and hope something opens up call.

Yeah, I just read a quote from Lamar where he said they were going to go for it on 4th down, but couldn't because he was cramping.

@Simba Another thing I thought of after replying to your post earlier. Is there such a thing of scouting potential Head Coaches? Like it clearly gets more and more frustrating seeing the same thing happen. Like do they usually have a few Coaches in mind of who they want to hire already or no?
They have lists of candidates for every single role on the team from FO to coaches to players and even beyond.

This is 100% a coaching loss. A combination of bad clock management, and coaching scared.
And players not doing their jobs in key spots. Coaches don't coach all-World RBs how to fumble in big spots. Yet its happened multiple times.
There's a lot of blame to go around, but there's a lot of players on this team that shrink in big moments.

I do. Two missed opportunities to get an INT on Allen. It's one thing to only sack Allen once, but it's not like we made it difficult for him out there. I mean, we couldn't even make him feel uncomfortable to SOME extent? Now granted the Bills have a really good OL but still. This pass-rush isn't gonna do that much when you have KVN and Oweh as your top pass-rushers.
That's on the roster construction. I've been complaining forever about continually over-investing in the secondary. It doesn't matter what you have back there, a good QB is going to complete a pass if they get time. We give them time in big moments.

And under-investing in the trenches shows up on the other side too. We can't give our own top QB the same time to complete a pass in big moments either.

After this season ends disappointingly again, I fully expect EDC to use our R1 pick on an outside corner to play opposite Wiggins.

I agree 100%, but they declined the fifth year option already and have said they won't be able to retain everyone. It feels like they're setting up early to lose Linderbaum.
I can say with almost certainty that the comment made was largely related to Mark Andrews, Odafe Oweh, and Travis Jones. Not saying Linderbaum will absolutely get done, although it should. But those are the guys they’re prepared to lose right now. They tried to get Jones done early but he and his camp wanted to wait and they know what that means.

In that instance you have to punt without Lamar's legs.
