slight edge to no ceilings imo and swag surf just hit different for me but run this town was fire too
Just talking about mixtapes my mind goes to friday night lights. I remember sitting in the dorm when that came out and going through that with my roomates.
 
I'm not a big consumer of rap/hip hop beyond the occasional listen.
Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Cypress Hill, and further back, the Beastie Boys are what I listened to most.
I occasionally put on playlists, since the beats tend to relax me while I'm doing something else.
In Argentina, there's a growing community, especially with freestyle competitions in public squares, more professional leagues, and lately, written battles have become very popular.
As a promising young artist, there's Trueno, who has already collaborated with Gorillaz and has tracks that pay homage to old-school rap

admittedly, I didnt watch any of these but I'm old school like you and Beastie Boys is literally my obsession. That said, If the Gorillaz sign off on the dude, hes solid in my book.

Yeah, it adapted well to punk rock too. I only listen to rap, but it ventures into other styles and it works really well.

I'm more into rock, but you have to recognize a lot of things about rap/hip hop.

P.S. You reminded me of the Judgment Night soundtrack album: Slayer - Ice-T, Living Color - Run DMC. Great album
